A brand new start

I'd heard about the health benefits of red wine, but I didn't realize that it is so low in calories. I never did get that wine (white zinfandel, by the way) or my walk, because I fell asleep! I actually went to bed around 8:30 and went to bed!!!
Well, tonight I'm not feeling much more alert, but I've completed my 2 mile dvd and I'm planning on one of those cute little bottles of wine.

Food

Special K blueberry breakfast bar
water

casa salad
5 potato chips eaten while serving kids
diet cherry pepsi

2 chocolate kisses
water

very reasonably-sized square of lasagna
salad
strawberry (yes, just one. I had about 5 on my plate and by the time each kid had one...)
water

Exercise
2 mile walk

Today's funny:
I was giving David a bath and I asked him if his armpits were stinky. He said, "No, they don't have any hair on them." :)

Off to shower my own stinky armpits!

sounds like your doing fantastic Scrappy!! I wish I had the energy to do a 2 mile walk! your children sound wonderful!

Scrappy I don't know how you do everything you do, but you truly motivate me. If I don't feel like exercising I just tell myself if Scrappy can do it so can I. Doing great, keep it up!!

Oh girl you crack me up! Your kids are adorable and you're so inspirational. Keep up the great work! Give your kiddies a hug for me! :) They make me think of my nieces and nephew. My nephew always has something funny to say hehe. Kids ah what a blessing. ;)

Okie, dokie. Here I am. Finally, I get the bottle of wine! Two days after I thought about drinking it.

Sip, sip, sip. Ah, warm feeling.

Thanks, Ladies, for all your kind comments. I think one of the reasons I am actually "doing this!" is because of this journal and the support you guys so readily provide. Thank YOU!

Okay, so how is it that it is after midnight? I turned the 'puter on so that I could do my little "online thing" around 9. 3 hours later!!! How does this happen???

Woke up. Weighed self. Noted two pound loss even though it is not "weigh in" day. Cheered. Dressed and "breakfasted" everybody. Dropped Aaron off at school. Took two boys to grocery store. Came home. Cleaned like a maniac. Fed the boys lunch. Picked up Aaron. Had a little boy and his grandma come over for a playdate. (Now you know why I would be cleaning like a maniac while the children were awake! And I must say that I love this little boy's grandma. So, I'll be honest- the playdate was for me too! :) ) Ate a salad. Had a friend's son over for a short time while the friend had an errand to run. Fixed dinner. Bathed boys. (Tried to wash all the Vaseline out of Sam's hair.) Read ridiculous bedtime story about trains and shooting stars. Put boys to bed. Watched tv show about celeb weddings and exercise for half an hour. Called friend for show review. Read a few pages from nutrition book. Welcomed husband home from work only to hear how wonderful the banquet and service were. (The same banquet and service that I decided I didn't have the energy to drag all three children with me to attend.) Talked on phone. Wind up on computer.

Ah, so that's it!!!

Food

I really don't remember! I'm thinking it was a Special K breakfast bar.

pecan crunch granola bar (2 in pack)
water

casa salad
diet coke with lime
water

2 goldfish crackers and 7 m&m's - eaten while serving kiddos

1 snack size bag of Doritos - HUGE pms cravings today. Not as bad as I've had in the past, but just needed that salt.

1 slice meatloaf
small serving of noodles with gravy
too many peas

white zinfandel wine (gotta love the cute little bottles!)

Exercise
1/2 hour aerobic activity (dancin', movin' and groovin' while watching tv in my living room)

Whoa...sounds like mommy could use a spa day....and I will join ya.

I let my 2 year old and f5 year old wash tupperware at the kitchen sink today (man they love that water play)...while I folded, ironed the laundry...(about 15 feet away from them)...came back to check on them as they played so lovely...only to find the whole brand new bottle of sunlight ever so neatly distributed in every tuperware cup, bowl, container we had. But hey for a three bottle of sunlight....they sure had a blast and the tupperware has never been so squeaky clean,...still a soapy residue on the floor though. :)

What were you thinking?!! LOL!
I'm with you... one bottle of dishwashing liquid is a fair price to pay for ten minutes to get some laundry folded... and a clean floor is definitely a bonus!! :)

It is almost 5 in the morning and I am sitting with my computer. I fell asleep shortly after the kids went to bed. The last time I looked at the clock it wasn't even 9 yet. DH and I were sitting on the couch with a rerun of Gilligan's Island. The next thing I know there are two cats sleeping on me, my hand is numb and sore, and it is almost 3. I slept through my workout, through my journaling time, and through any "hubby" time.
Now, of course, I can't sleep, so I figured instead of trying to sleep I would log on and journal.

We took the kids to a Titanic museum today. Quite interesting. When we got there they gave us tickets with actual passenger's names on them and then we entered the museum. We had a tour guide, Pat. He dressed the part of an Irish emmigrating to America on board the Titanic. It was a combanation of museum and live history. You felt like you were actually boarding the Titanic, but at the same time, you know how it all winds up (or sinks down ;) ).

The stuff in the museum was well maintained and the displays were actual things from the Titanic, from the movie and from recreations. The had a display of a parlor from a first class room, a recreated grand staircase, Father was-it-Browne?'s photos, newspaper clippings, a chunk of "iceberg," costumes from the movie, in the cargo area of the ship you could see the car and mail bags just like in the movie. (He said it took him an hour to get the handprint off the window. ;) )

The tour was about an hour and then you could go back through and linger. DH videotaped the tour and I got some pictures. I'm not sure if a picture is going to do that grand staircase justice, however. At the end of the tour you could find your ticket's name on a list of passengers to see whether or not that person survived. (Of the five of us, two survived.)

It was very neat and the boys even enjoyed it. Towards the end Sammy got really fussy and the boys needed to get moving. And, of course, since DH was videotaping I was left to handle all three boys by myself. Ugh! Hate that!

Fussiness aside, it was an enjoyable day. We came home from the "field trip" and went to the mall to get some speaker wires and to look for a particular piece of Anna Griffin scrapbooking paper. (All done and said, though, DH bought the wrong wire and the scrapbooking store didn't have the paper I want.) For dinner the boys helped me make a couple of mushroom and pepperoni pizzas. (Well, Aaron and David helped while Sam sneaked slices of pepperoni from the bag. That little fella has figured out how to open zip-loc bags!)

Food
cottage cheese and blackberry preserves
1 waffle (do I have to admit that it was chocolate chip?!)
water

meatloaf sandwich (meatloaf, wheat bread, slice of cheese)
small serving of peas
diet cherry coke

small handful of goldfish crackers
water

2 pieces of pepperoni and mushroom pizza
casa salad
water

Exercise
None today unless you count running after the beastly boys at the museum!

Now that I'm yawning, I'm going to try going to bed again.

Hey, sounds like you guys had alot of fun! I'm sure all the walking added up to alot of bured calories!

Good morning! I fell asleep after putting the kids to bed last night. But before I really get started on the day, I'll write about yesterday.

After getting up at 3 Saturday morning I went back to sleep around 6 and got up about 8. Then DH had to go over to the nursing home because one of the church members was dying. He wound up back and forth over there all day. And in the afternoon, she did die. That was emotional, of course. Added to the fact that DH woke up around 5, and I had one very tired hubby. Just sets the scene for a Saturday spent pretty much alone with my three babes and all my errands.

We went to Target to buy a birthday present for a friend's five year old. Lite Brite! (Remember how you used to have to plug it in and sit twelve inches from the wall? Now it is flatscreen, has a peg storage area, and operates on batteries. Definitely an improved product! If only I had bought stock in batteries, though!) I also bought a Valentine's Day hand towel and tablecloth. I love Valentine's Day. :)

Then I took the kids to the the grocery store (usually won't go to a grocery store on a Saturday, but it I needed some stuff that I didn't/couldn't get on Thursday when I went). I've never been to this particular store on a Saturday, and it was one huge appetizer party. They were giving away samples of everything! (It really worked out, because by this time the boys were starving!) There was fruit salad, bbq sandwiches and french fries, cereal, chicken wraps, tortilla chips, salad and carrots, and cookies. Wow.

Anyway, when the boys napped I got in my two mile walk. Then it was time to dress them up for the birthday party. DH was too tired to go, so I took all three boys to a restaurant by myself. Ugh! I knew he was really drained, but that is a lot to ask! The party was fun and the restaurant was good. The kids behaved (for the most part) and we did have fun. Got home late and then had to bathe them and throw them in bed.

Food
2 egg omelet with mushrooms and cheese
1 piece of toast
small orange juice

slice of chicken and swiss cheese wrap, a "sample cup" of fruit salad, 1 tortilla chip, "sample cup" of leafy salad with parmesean dressing, couple of goldfish crackers
water

small sqaure of lasagna
water

1/2 roast beef dip sandwich
10 french fries
2 huge glasses of lemonade  (it was sooo good)
1/3 of a slice of marble birthday cake (I didn't get the piece with the Spiderman on it!)

Exercise
2 mile walk

Weigh in: I am down to 187! That is a 2.5 pound weight loss for this week. Whoo-hoo! Go me! I bought a bouquet of "crazy daisies." They are dyed very vivid colors... bright yellow, green, blue, orange, and hot pink.

Off to make the kiddos some breakfast. And then I have to finish dressing them for church.

Great job! 2.5 pounds! The Titanic museum sounds like the similar experience I had at the Holocaust museum in DC. (we got a name when we came in and referred to each other as that and then found out if we lived or not) I could have spent all day in that place. Boy it was moving! WIsh I could go back. ANYWAY Great job this week and keep up the great work!

wow...thats like 18 lbs isnt it???? That is almost two dress sizes in a month,...you go girl!!! Your flowers sounds really bright and funky and wonderful!!!!

Thanks, Rosered, Jennifer, and Coastergirl for all your positive messages!

Rosered, your trip to the Holocaust musuem does sound moving.

Kind of a different Sunday. There wasn't Sunday School this morning because of the mission festival in the school gym. I took the kids to the mission festival. There were booths representing different types of mission opportunities - Loaves and Dishes, Lutheran Bible Translators, Wycliff, LWML, local food shelves, local pregnancy centers, etc. The kids ran around the gym    and they collected the different pamphlets and treats from each booth. By the time church came around I stuck all three of them in the nursery and went to church by myself.

After church I went back to Target to exchange the tablecloth for one that would fit my table. On the way home David and I had the following conversation. Mamas, hold on to your three year old daughters!
Mom: I love you, David.
David: I love you.
Mom: No, you don't. I love YOU.
David: Yes, I do. I love you.
Mom: Don't you understand? I love YOU!
David: (giggle, giggle) I LOVE YOU
Mom: But you can't love me. I'm busy loving you.
David: (giggle, giggle) Let's just love each other. :)

Anyway, I spent the afternoon making dinner for a missionary family. They are raising funds to work for Wycliff Bible Translators. It was an enjoyable evening. Our boys certainly enjoyed the three kids and I like making dinner for guests. Of course, it took pretty much all afternoon and now I'm tired! I've got a little school planning and then I'm off to bed!

Food
1/2 the roast beef dip sandwich leftover from last night
water

apple slice, 2 strawberries, one small star cookie, @ 15 of those tiny conversation hearts
water

pizza slice (mushrooms and pepperoni)
salad with three cheese ranch

2 "beaters worth" of icing
a few finger-licks of cool whip and chocolate pudding

roast beef and gravy
broccolli and cheese sauce
apple sauce
salad
small square of the pudding dessert
water

no sugar added hot chocolate
deli slice of ham

Exercise

Sorry scrappy I was out for a couple of days...congrat's on your weight loss 2.5 in one week is big time! As Jennifer would say...Be sure to get it on the chart!

Hi scrappy I would have loved to go on the holocaust trip im sure it would have been a wonderful trip for my self and the children. Im hoping to find something like that on the coast here, if not somewhere close. We took the kids to the croc farm (you no with Steve Erwin) and the kids loved that. We haven’t been for about a year and he has a heap of new stuff in his zoo now so we are thinking of going back at Easter, im sure they will love that. Wow you must be run off your feet with every thing you do every day you should be as slim as a twig.

Thanks, Newbride and Rosered. I'm getting it on the chart, Newbride. And Rosered, I am so jealous of your trip ot Steve Erwin's croc-zoo. What fun! My boys would have been in absolute heaven! Good luck on finding a local museum.

Just an average day of work and mommmy-dom. DH isn't feeling well.

Food
Special K breakfast bar
water

1 mini cupcake (student birthday)
(3 of these is a serving)
10 M&M's

ham and swiss on wheat with mustard
100 cal pack oreros
diet cherry coke

blueberry yogurt (4 ounces)
water

beef and noodles
salad
mixed vegetables
cottage cheese
small square of pudding dessert
water

I was very stressed by the time I got the kiddies home for dinner. I just felt the need to eat everything. And while I did eat a larger meal than normal, I can see by looking over the day's food that it wasn't that bad of a day.

Forgot a little story from yesterday...
When we had the missionary family over yesterday I made a pudding dessert that is a "cookie" crust with a layer of cream cheese, a layer of chocolate and vanilla pudding and then a layer of cool whip decorated with chocolate curls. It looks so yummy! Well, the mom was away from the table when I brought the dessert out. I cut a slice and put it in front of the dad. Well, the 12 year old daughter took the plate and said something like, "Dad, you shouldn't eat that." He then explained that he has cholesterol problems. I was all too happy to blurt, "It's not all that sinful! Lowfat cream cheese and skim milk for the pudding. (Couldn't get lowfat cool whip.) Heart-healthy nuts in the cookie crust." He got a huge grin and grabbed back his plate!

Exercise
I was going to go to bed after this, but I think I will walk at least a mile. Just reading all your diaries and updating mine is inspiring!

Keep up the good work, everybody!
Totallyscrappy
