7lbs in a fortnight! Is that normal?

(Hope this is the right forum for this!)

Over the last 2 weeks I have dropped half a stone. Whilst I am ecstatic about this I'm a little concerned that it a) isn't normal or healthy and b) could just be a misread on the scales.

My diet has improved drastically these past 2 weeks, lots of veg, salad and soups. My diet this week, for example, consisted of chili with rice and salad, or sweet potato soup with pitta bread, on alternating days. Evening meal was normally soup, crackers, or a rice dish (depending on the lunch) i have exercised about 5 days a week. 2 days walking, 2 days cycling and 1 day yoga - all at around 30 mins duration.

I get that my diet and exercise would contribute to weight loss (after all, it's what I'm aiming for) but I've never lost that much that quickly and wondered if anyone else had or if anyone had any insight.

(I now weigh in at 169lbs by the way)

If you just started dieting in the past two weeks, 7 lbs isn't unreasonable from what I have experienced. You tend to lose a lot of water weight in the beginning. Most likely your weight loss will start to slow down fairly soon. As long as you're getting an adequate amount of calories, I wouldn't worry about it. :)

This is possible when you are just starting out. Just don't get disappointed if that rate doesn't stay consistent.
