My mom came into town and told my grandma about doing a 600 calorie diet to help with her diabetes. Now, my grandma is somewhat overweight, and the whole family started trying to eat better, so she went onto this like a dog on a bone. My mom is joining for support, as well as the male members of the family (on a less restrictive diet, but still for moral support). I'm going to do the same, but probably fib on it since I do work, dance, walk, and stay fairly active.
What should I make sure my grandma eats? There's no way I can talk her out of it, and personally I need to restrict my food amounts since I've been hovering at a weight for a long time (up to 2 months now) with no change. She does a 2 mile walk 3 times a week, but other then that she's not very active. I know their planning on focusing on veggies and protein, but is there more that we should be aware of nutrients wise?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks!
