5 lbs of Fat vs 5 lbs of Muscle
I'm sure these pics have been used on the forum before.
But one more time, the difference between losing "weight" and losing fat.
See, if a person started eating properly and exercising, and they lost 5 lbs of fat but gained 5 lbs of muscle (highly unlikely), if they were concerned solely with scale weight, then they likely would be greatly disappointed as they made no gains.
But you can see from the photo, if this did happen, the person would be considerably smaller and probably a lot healthier, even if the scale didn't budge.
Here's a representation of 5 lbs of fat alone.
Or, if you prefer, 1 lb of fat with something you can compare it to.
Finally, another photo I have on file to show the difference between exercising to lose weight vs simply dieting to lose weight.
I think that photo is quite telling why you should exercise.
