Hi All!

I'm new to this forum. Kinda not sure how it all works. I'm 48 years old. 5' 8" and about 200 lbs. Heading out of a 25 year marriage with a cheater. My self confidence is at an all time low. I am approximately 50 lbs overweight. I have lost weight in the past (Weight Wathers, Nutrisystems, LA Weight Loss) however I have never been able to keep it off. I'm tired of getting 'soaked' by the diet industry. Now, I can't seem to lose a pound. I have a horrible time keeping motivated. I want to change. I do excercise, about 3 to four times a week on the eliptical trainer. I work full time. I do eat fast food, but try my best to eat the 'right' fast food. I'm not big on vegtables (only because so many seem to upset my stomach). I'm entering into the menapausal time (UGH!) and the meno-pot is growing! Any advice on what I can do to get motivated to lose the weight and what kind of diet would work the best would really help.:waving:

motivation comes from within you.. why do you want to lose weight?

What kind of diet that works best? eating real food in proper portions... diet plans do not work long term - reasonable calories -reasonable exercise and consistency and you will be at your goal...

Get an accoount at or one of the 100s of tehr f ree sites ont he web to track calories and do spend some time reading the stickied threads around this forum to learn about what is a reasonable number of calories... etc..

Sorry to hear this. I despise cheating!

I hope that through the crap you can find a way to perceive it as a second chance. A huge chance to get control of your weight and build a new and improved life for yourself.

He didn't deserve you anyhow. If he was of the type that would cheat... you are far better off. Move forward.

Focusing too much on the destination and not enough on the journey you suppose?

Many people work so hard to get the weight off but never plan for what's left after they reach their goals. They invariably revert back to old habits here and there, which add up over time, and the weight slowly creeps back on.

Permanent weight loss requires a permanent commitment to health and control. You know this I am sure. It's simply a matter of cultivating a mindset that is conducive for such permanency as well as a plan that is flexible and manageable, tailored to you.

I'm tired of getting 'soaked' by the diet industry. Now, I can't seem to lose a pound.

What are you trying?

I have a horrible time keeping motivated.

I imagine the lack of motivation is leading to a lack of consistency which in turn is leading to the lack of results from above, right?

What do you think is leading to the lack of motivation?

You want this, right? You want to lose the weight.

But why?

What does it mean to you to achieve your ultimate goal?

What will it feel like to achieve it?

What will it feel like to not achieve it?

What negatives to you have associated with changing your lifestyle? What about positives?

Questions drive action. But you have to be asking the right questions. And focusing on the right answers consistently.

I want to change.

See above.

I don't think any fast food is the right fast food.

Be that as it may, do you have any idea how many calories per day you are eating?

If not, are you familiar with
