4 1/2 months later, I'm sick of the post pregnancy flab blues!

Well I am 21 and I basically have been tiny my whole life, I was a runner and dancer for awhile. I have always been like 111 lbs, and I'm about 5'6, and of course have had people tell me I don't need to be fit, bt it's important to me. I pretty much only gained 29 lbs with my son, and lost 24 lbs, 2 weeks after having him, I still have 5 extra left over. Anways 4 1/2 months ago I had a baby boy via c-section. I have been doing crunches, and cardio when I have time of course, I am a single mom. But I am not seeing results, what are some good ways to rid of the flab? and of course ways that are quick b/c sometimes I do not have alot of time.

Hi Aijersey, first off congrats on your baby. If you only have 5 pounds to lose to be back to your pre-baby weight the "flab" may just be lose skin (it will take a little time to shrink back). But it may not go away especially if you have stretch marks from the weight gain.

There's nothing you can do if your skin has stretched to the point of leaving marks (basically there is just more surface area), if you don't have stretch marks then I would try to be patient (easier said than done) and let your body 'heal' itself at it's own speed!

:)

Hi , well it sounds like a good time to start! Although I promise you it won't be quick and seeing as how you are pretty much already back to your prepregnancy weight (well done by the way :) ) you might have a bit of real stubborn-type flab that you may not be able to totally get rid of.

I have two kids the last one is already 2 and a half, my how time flies, and I only really got serious about it about one year ago. You did very good on not gaining any weight! Seriously that is a very hard thing to keep under control when you are pregnant and if you were like me...ravenous all the time lol.

I read you liked running and dancing which are both things I was going to suggest you do! Just get into dancing again, dance around the baby they love it and it makes mine laugh at me :)

Also you should start a journal entry and let us know what foods you are eating that really makes the big difference on those last few pounds. People here know alot more than me on the weight loss itself and diet recommendations, I just know some things about exercise .

When I first started losing weight I ran during my lunch break every other day started at a run/walk and did one mile and worked my way until I ran the whole mile, then increased it to a run/walk 2 mile and then ran 2 miles and on and on...you get my drift...and with that I also danced through the entire Veruca Salt CD every night with my kids.

Also try limiting your carbs in your last meal of the day that makes a big difference as well.

Drink alot of water esp. during summer, and try to avoid sugar.

But like a friend said, a little indulgence here and there can prevent a severe overindulgence ! which I tend to have a problem with .

Good luck to you !

So you're around 115 and 5'6"? That's small and going on a fat loss diet or something is going to be gruesome. I'd rather see you eat enough to build some lean toned muscle. Your weight will increase, but who the heck cares when you look amazing? My vote is for strength training and muscle building to help reduce body fat and give you some definition.

Agree! I don't like to weigh myself all that much, I just care how I look and how my clothes fit!

So 4 1/2 months ago you had a c section. Girl you are doing great. My first son was a c section, your body needs time to repair itself. So don't go rushing it. Now having said that. Weight training is the best way to go. Throw away the scale it means squat. Hit the big compounds that hit your core as well and don't be afraid to hit up your ab workout with some weight too. You wanna be a hard body you got lift and challenge yourself. Good luck. I know its tough being a single mom ( I have two boys myself), but it can be done with dedication. Plus your young, you have that on your side. So go hit the weights
