3x a week or 4x a week weight training

I am currently still cutting bodyfat down, im around 15% i believe and have been hitting the gym 4x a week doing upper/lower split. I am lifting heavy and doing 5x5 or 4x6 depending on the week. I do not want to lose muscle mass but sometimes getting to the gym on the weekends is tough since i am also in school and have a thesis to write. My gym closes real early on the weekends, 4pm and 2pm sat/sun. Would i still be ok if i am lifting heavy but only 3x a week? Id end up doing Upper/Lower/Upper one week then Lower/Upper/Lower the next. Would i still retain muscle mass while cutting or will that one less session per week hurt me? I am doing only compound movements (squat,pullups,bench press,rows etc).
 
well, if changing to 3 days a week i would do a full body workout, but thats just me, im sure doing upper lower 3 times would work. but i think full body would work better, since each week, one part would only be worked once, which is a bit low imo.
 
How many exercises do you do for a full body routine? Right now im doin for upper 1 chest 1 back and 1 shoulder exercise (benchpress,rows,pullups,shoulderpress etc) and for legs im doin 3 exercises (stepup,squat,lunge, sometimes leg press). I also do abs on leg days. The routine has been working well for me and im in and out of the gym in 45mins which is good for my schedule. For a full body would i just do 1 chest/back/shoulder/leg? Im tryin to stay away from the isolation exercises.
