Thank you Margaret - good luck to riding it through to the end...I kinda thought I would be toast as we all combined into one team...weight losse has not being something Ive had alot of in the challenege so my points were too low to compete with everyone else. My weight loss has not been anything to write home about either - I only have as many points as I have because I have had maximum exercise and bonus points. I know that I always need them all because I just can never rely on getting some weight loss.

The sodium thing seems to be a lot easier if you cook the meals from scratch. There seems to be a lot less sodium in fresh fish / chicken, fruit and vegetables than there is in tinned stuff and pre-packaged stuff.

I know that you are busy working and running around after your kids - but the sodium thing might be easier with less tinned / prepackaged food. It might also be the hidden bit of the jigsaw that really helps your weight loss. That would be great.

It appears that I have been very sensitive to sodium - so I had identified things like cheese as piling weight on me every time that I ate it. Someone has just posted that people with PCOS are extra sensitive to sodium so that might be why. Over the time I have cut out loads of things that inexplicably (at the time) were piling weight onto me out of all proportion to their calorie content.

I know that my food is boring but I did work out a couple of day's sodium last week for practice - so that means that I have worked out 4 days there listed individually. It may give a couple of ideas for what is low and high sodium.

Fresh salmon is tons less sodium than tinned salmon.

Take care

Hey Margaret - I dont eat alot of tinned or prepacked food - that was one of the things I worked on awhile ago gettin away from all that...I dont even really eat much bread - just once in awhile.I had tin salmon today for conveince - I will admitt - Im tired still from all my overnights and needed to eat but didnt want to really make anything so I opted for a salmon sandwich...I have slamon pieces in my freezer, they are only 75 a thingy - so next time I will do that...

I typically eat alot of veggies/salads, some fruit and as fresh as I can make things - our eating is nothing like it use to be...sodium is one of the last things ive been needing to do...ive known for awhile that i need to take the next step and start doing more but geesh eventually it gets a bit tiring ya know...not only is our eating alot better but we are also gettin more adventerous well I am - i ahve added alot more veggies into my mix and such and eat more things I never would have before...

I bought a bunch of Mrs Dash when I was out today - I really like the pepper melody one and I got the garlis and herbs as I love garlic and something else I cant remeber...

Ive had a day from hell with the kids...not so much my oldest she was actually helpful today when we went out but my youngest - WOW...Im seriously gettin to the point were I might need to contain myself from beating her - lol...Yes that bad...

I think it is a combo between me still being tired - I worked 5 overnights which equals to 47 hrs...I also dont typically work 5 days in a row...i usually work a day or two or three and then get a day or two off...at xmas i worked 8 days straight and that was hard...

So i think her behaviour is a combo of us being tired and me hardly spending tiem with her and so on...

Im also totally stressed about money - when I was sick - i had 2 weeks off - it was a whole pay period...so im really short on money right now...i dont even wanna go there...lol...a friend of mine offered to lend me money for next weekend when we have a function of our friends to attend - it is a fundraiser...we already bought tickets...

I also cant afford to go to water areobics - just no money...anothe rfriend of mine offered to buy me a 10 visit pass - isnt that sweet...but help is soemthign im not use to and have a hard time acceptign...i have a feeling I will just be given the pass...so I cant protest or say no...

I am blessed with good friends and family...it just sucks - since i got this new job I ahvent realyl been broke...but no work for 2 weeks will do it...

*SIGH* I will stop whinning now - lol

I'm sorry your stressed Cerella. Life is certainly an uphill battle isn't it? I understand what you mean about trying not to beat your kids, I have SOO been there! I am glad that you say how blessed you are! We all need to really concentrate on our blessings, after all, thats what life really is about :)

I hope tommorrow is a better day for you ((Hugs))

Hi Cerella,
I'm sorry you're having such a rough time atm. You have my full sympathy on the lack of sleep issue. It is hard to function well when your body and mind are run down. Being broke is no fun, either. Hopefully all these extra hours you're putting in lately will help you recover financially from being off sick those 2 weeks. Hang in there, honey! And grab some sleep when you have a chance. :grouphug:

I'm sorry you got eliminated from the challenge this week. However, I hope you'll stay in the 2nd chance one. I'm amazed that you find so much time to exercise when you're so busy. Kudos to you for staying so dedicated to improving your health. :)

Hi Cerella

I am sorry that things have been difficult for you. I am sure that it will be down to tiredness from your long and antisocial hours and after you have got your body rested and back into a normal pattern things will improve. It is hardly surprising that your youngest daughter has been missing you. My hubby used to work shifts and I used to work very long hours so I do know that it can make things tough.

I used to get a lot of prepackaged food too when I was working. It is easy to get so that you rely on them when you are busy. The main reason that we changed over to cooking things from scratch is that it is a lot cheaper than the prepackaged stuff and this was important when our finances changed. The meals cost such a lot less if you make them from raw ingredients and I found that making meals did not take as much effort as I anticipated. The fact that it is nutritionally better for you was an extra bonus.

You have done well to move away from them already when you are so busy. I dont blame you at all for opening a tin when you are tired. I was not meaning to criticise you - just mention a way of reducing sodium.

I know what you mean about it all getting tiring. I have been doing this for just about a year now (started late February) and I really could not cope with counting calories all the time like some people do. All that I do is aim to eat as healthy a balanced diet as I can and do my exercise.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hey Margaret - I didnt think you were critizing me in anyway :) Just wanted to get that outta the way first.

I have a bit of a crazy busy hectic life between work adn the toddler and the teenager and being a single mom - it is really easy to loose my focus at times ya know and get side tracked and slip back to my old habits...but I also restart and get going again - one thing Im great at is exercising once i get into the swing of it again:)I can usually manage to get alot of it in and when I do and eat well as I have for mostly the last 6 weeks or so I can feel great and keep on a going...I know also have alot of exercise buddies as well...a cpl for the gym and so on...actually they all start clashin with one another...stac wants to go to the gym mon wed and fri mornings...raniel wants to go tues and wednes nights - but that is kinda hard for me - he is off work at 10pm and 9pm...water areobics with karen is supposta be mon and wednes evenings and then thurs and fri mornings and or sat mornings as well...and ive just been invited to start hydro fit - deep water areobics on mon and wednes and it is at 630 pm which is a nice time:)

that is alot and obviously I cant do it all...im gonna have to tell raniel i cant do it that late - i think for sure hydro fit...and still in the ams with karen but she isnt very reliable - we havent been in weeks...I havent being doign much cardio lately and focusing more on strength training - alot of yoga and some weights...

I really think I overdid myself on Friday - i stayed awake for 30 hrs...after working my 10 hr shift I never went to bed - I stayed up all day...lol...ran some errands went shopping and out for a late dinner...so im totally paying for it all now...

Kim - I exercise alot by just fitting it in and doing it as much as I can whenever I can and my youngest exercise alot with me as well...so I just do it as much as I can and also when Im workign the over nights depending on how I feel I will do some yoga or something there as well...the overnights are also non stop cleaning shifts - ha ... nice huh.

I just bought Taneesha (my youngest) 3 exercise machines - I coudlnt really afford them but instead of 100 each they were 25 each...they are steel and bright and colourful and it takes her own strength to move them and exercise on them...

we got a treadmill, an exercise bike and a air walker it is called - pretty much a gazelle...but we call it an elliptical cuz that is what i have...:)I will post some pics once I get the living room cleaned up and reorganized...they are so cute and she is excited and loves them:)

I need to work on drinking more water - lately I have been drinkin alot fo green tea cuz ive just been so tired...todays goal get some exercise in and drink water

Green tea is still mostly water and it has a bunch of health benefits. Sorry I've been so scarce. I am working on rectifying that.

I know what you mean about the water, it is so hard. I had to buy one of those 2 liter containers, and I lug it with me all day to make sure I get it down. It has been helping a lot. It is also really boosting my energy. Dehydration is one of the main causes of fatigue, so it's good you are at least getting some water in your tea.
