3500 calorie diet ??

Let me ask you this, google VLCD or "1200 calorie diet" and you will see tons of articles, forum postings, etc. mainly women maybe 200 pounds, trying to eat 1200 calories and wondering why they haven't lost a single pound. For months, even years. If that concept makes sense, and is an accepted idea, why does it not make sense that someone could be 325 pounds, eating 2000-2500 calories and wondering why they haven't lost a single pound?[/QUOTE]

BECAUSE his metabolsm has slowed down! :dupe: lol

If he has been doing exercise and eating less and has not lost any pounds, you must also realize that muscle weighs more than fat. Maybe you should be taking measurements. I don't see why anybody would want to eat THAT much calories if they want to lose weight. I eat 800 calories a day and I eat healthy, and I have lost a looot of weight that way, and it continues to drop. But, eating small is better for my type of metabolism.

With exercise and eating small portions of healthy food, (occasionally alternating) there is no excuse why weight shouldn't be lost, especially with exercise. You mentioned something about his thyroid - I think I missed the post, but how did that turn out? My mom has a thyroid problem and has gained about 20-25 lbs from it, and she eats small, like I do.

Also, if it is a deal with his metabolism, you can research what foods are good for speeding it up. Changing pace of WHAT he eats will also speed it up. Calcium is apparently very good for it, as well. You may also try having him eat foods with fat-burning qualities in them, such as applse and cabbage.
