haven't updated this in a while I'm not quite done yet... but im almost there.

started 3/5/07 the pic is a little older... i think around 326... i started tracking after some dieting at 304 lbs

currently im 169ish (1.16 lbs a week avg) at 13.1% on the handheld BF% monitor, these measurements are eating a whole medium pizza from Dominos last night:) bad example i know... but its an occasional thing.

oh yeah... im trying out the whole caveman look... hence the beard :) I'm a goofy guy :bigear:

oh yeah... my camera timer sucks... it doesnt focus well

Wow! Great results. I'm in the middle of a similar start and finish weight myself. Great to see other people succeed.

Keep it up!

Did you put most the muscle on after the weight loss?

nope... havent really done a "bulking" or at least on purpose. So Its been added during the process, or maybe i had it the whole time.

i have had diet slips, and what not, so im thinking maybe i added some during those calorie up days, ive more or less been pretty consistent with heavy lifting during the process. i think its been a matter of simply taking the proper diet /exercise measures to not lose it while dropping.

Im sure you can imagine that it takes a good amount of muscle to move 300+ pounds of mass on a daily basis

Thanks for sharing, and awesome job!

My stats might be exactly the same as yours. Started at god knows what but am now slightly under 300 after eating well and exercising for a couple months. I'm going to assume I was at least 320 based on how clothing fit has changed.

I love that you did it slowly and safely, and I can only imagine it makes it all the more worthwile at the end. How tall are you?

Thanks again for sharing your journey, it is inspiring!

I'm 5'6" I don't know about slowly and safely. there was weeks where i dropped 5-6 pounds easy... hardly considered a slow safe place.

My diet was always sound tho. Based on information i got mostly from this site, my priority has always been minimum 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, to preserve my lean mass, and got plenty of good fats the entire way through.

no ridiculous 1000 calorie diets, or cabbage only nonsense. or 100 calorie packas of garbage. I mostly ate lean meats, dairy and protein shakes. avoiding for the most part, processed foods. or at least as much as possible. everyone caves.

I always trained hard, and a lot of times for 2-3 hours a day. hardly considered safe by some standards. but i more or less listened to my body, and backed off when i was extremely fatigued.

Here I am injury free (some small bouts will knee pain, and minor shoulder issues, caused by imbalances, and not stretching, or soft tissue work, more or less solved now)

Overall I guess it was safe, realizing that nutrition was an important part of it, and energy balance. I love to eat, so i had to work harder so i can create a deficit more out of activity than cutting calories... but calories were indeed cut.

Wicked, you look totally different. Amazing change , you must be so proud of yourself. When you were your biggest ... could you even picture or imagine what you would look like? You look fantastic, I can't imagine what I'll look like when I get to my goal. Thanks for posting the pics, they are very inspiring.

wow, you look AMAZING! this is very inspirational considering i started at over 350 and not at 318....i have a looong way to go but seeing such an amazing transformation makes me know that i can do this! wow, congrats on the weight loss you must feel amazing because you LOOK amazing! all the best xoxo

Great job RJAZ520 I was going to ask you if you had some updated pictures of your progress as I just found your old thread the other day. You look fantastic. I must say I am very impressed. I was curious since it is hard to tell from your before picture. Would you say you had more Visceral fat or Subcutaneous fat? Keep up the good work!

Your progress is in like one of the top on here that just shocked me. You look so good. I don't even know you and I'm completely proud of you!

a whole lot more Subcutaneous fat.

thanks for the encouragement :)

RJ.
you have any loose skin?

Matt

I refuse to acknowledge it as loose skin, because

a) there's still fat underneath it
b) I haven't given it enough time and or nutrients at maintenance to repair itself. It looks like its tightening up.

I'm going to to stay the path, get on Lyle UD 2.0 and reach very low levels of body fat, and see how it goes from there. Most stories I've seen of people losing this much weight haven't made a good effort to pile on muscle, and have looked at it from a weight point of view, vs a body composition point of view. The standards for my height are 115-155. I'm not going to declare a victory just because I reach 155 if there is obviously some fat on my body. althought I'm hoping I have enough muscle mass that when i reach 155 there is very little fat left :)

a whole lot more Subcutaneous fat.

Thanks for replying to my question RJAZ520. That was really the answer I wanted to hear! I think you have seen in my thread that my fat seems to be all Subcutaneous and I really hate it. It's good to know that there's hope for me yet.

Take care and keep up the hard work because it's definately working!
