3 Week Plan

Say I were to cut off all fats and "bad foods" for 3 weeks and workout on a treadmill and Swedish ball daily. (treadmill 1 hour @ 4.5 mph and 15 mins Swedish ball exercises)

What is the maximum I could hope to lose? (in pounds)

If currently I do not real exercise, just a lot of walking...and eat moderately healthy...and am starting at 153 lbs. 5'6 with fat concentrated in stomach, back, and upper thighs.

This is all hypothetical..I am just curious..because last year for one month I tried a very strict diet and exercised daily and lost about 10 pounds..but was VERY toned...wonder if I can do that again....I know I should be doing this for the long run....geez..I'm going to go get on the treadmill now.....

This is a very tough question since everyone reacts differently. BUT a general rule of thumb to full is to try and lose no more then 2lbs PER WEEK. Now when I say this I mean that if you are losing more then that, it is usually muscle mass and water lose that is taking place past the 2lbs of fat loss. At 4.5mph for an hour on the treadmill it think youd be burning about 400-500 calories. That combined with a eating 500 less calories, means about 1000 calories lost per day X 7 days = 7000cal= 2lbs of fat. This is a theory, but it works pretty close to that. The thing about last year with 10lbs per week is excellent since you were losing about 2.5lbs per week which isnt all that bad.

So finally, to actually answer your question, you looking at a possible 10-14lbs of WEIGHT LOSS in 3 weeks, with a strict diet. Would I recommend you do that? NO! Losing muscle mass isn't all that great since its hard to put on good muscle. So your best bet is to lose all the weight you want but a 2lb/week rate. Good luck and remember patience and time is key to successive fat loss.

im definitely going to do this for the long run, cos i realize i could cause myself a lot of health problems by trying to do it ASAP. thank you for the insight :)

2lb/week it is...slow and steady

im trying to lose at least 2 lbs a week as well. 3 weeks ago i started a new diet plan, weighing in at 177, at 6'1", im now down to 171 so im pretty happy. Although im usually dissapointed because i find i usually gain weight over the weekends, and end up having to lose more weight during the week to catch up. But i think its possible if you stay strict on your diet.

You can definately do it. That doesnt mean just consume 1000 calories every day. You need to consume about 2000, and between the treadmil and swiss ball ud be burning about 400-500 plus the diet the body burns an extra 500. If you were to only just eat right and not work out. You'd technically consume 500 calories a day, as ur body naturally burns about 500 calories a day just doing normal routine.
