hi guys, me again
I did cohens 2 years ago and lost alot from 92 down to 73,seems unbelievable as I write this. I am back to 87 and can't seem to shift it. I am back on the merrygoround.Should I do Cohens, should I do ww,should I try jennycraig or gastric banding???Aargh.
The only one that ever really worked was cohens. I seem to remember you guys being a great help to start with as I don't live near a centre so am basically alone in this.
I started cohens after my brother came over from africa for a holiday and took some awful photo's of me. He agreed to give up smoking and I eating(well you know what I mean), now he is coming for another holiday in December. I would love to be 10 or 15kilo's lighter.
My mum and dad will be here in 4 or 5 weeks and my insanely skinny sister on 20th dec with her new husband and teenage kids whom I haven't met. I would so love to not be the fat aunty.
Can I do it again?and in such a short time?
I might need your help
I might try tomorrow.
thanks for listening:seeya:

katydid, I've lost about 17 kilos in 3 months. It can be done but can you tell us a little more about yourself...height, weight, BMI, fitness level, that sort of thing? If you weigh 70 kilos, losing 10-15 in less than 3 months will be difficult. If you weigh 120 kilos it may be doable. Steve can explain how all that works; it seems the less you weigh at the outset the harder it is to drop large amounts of weight in a short period of time.

wow.that was quick

thanks for the quick reply. I have added a ticker. I am 87 at present so I don't think it is doable, but I have been trying to start this for the last 6 months, so I guess it has to be better than where I am now.Plus I have put 12 kilo's back on in the last 12 months so hopefully that will go quick, isn't the saying the faster it went on the faster it goes off?

better go to bed otherwise I will be too tired to try tomorrow.
thanks for your reply. I will nip up to the shops in the morning and get my yoghurt and fruit and steak and start straight away I think.
Thanks guys
night

To get the weight off and keep it off - requires a change in habits.. forever changes...

Doesn't mean that to get whereyou want to be - youo have to deprive yourself or torture yourself with exercise.. it means you have to pay attention to what you're putting into your body -and that can include all your favorite foods... Just staying within a certain calorie range... and exercising regularly.

A reasonable expection of weight loss is 1 percent of your body weight a week - you might not be where you want to be - but you'll be a lot closer t han you are today.

I'd suggest reading the stickied threadsin nutrition and on topic for soome ideas as to how to get started... you don't need some special program - just some changing of habits.

Welcome to the forum and I agree with Mal... fad diets aren't meant to be a permanent way to lose weight. If you look at the diet and can't see yourself on it for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, it's a fad and it's not going to work long term. Changes in eating and exercise, even if they are small changes at first, are IMO the only way to make your weight loss a permanent loss. Again, welcome to the forum! :D

back again

I realise that this isn't a lifetime thing and that energy out must equal energy in inorder to keep a permanent plateau. If I thought Cohens was for life I wouldn't be back on this forum trying again.
I am useles at diets or lifestyle changes or whatever we are calling thm nowadays, but the fact remains I need to get to a place at which I can maintain the perfect weight and fitness for my figure.
I have tried everything and Cohens gets me to a place where I feel comfortable. Everyone says its harder to maintain than lose weight, well I haven't even got to the lose weight bit yet so maintenece is a ways off yet.
I have also started at Curves, with an older friend/workmate who says she is concerned with how much money I have wasted over the last 5 years that she has known me on exercise or weight related stuff. So she has offered to be a personal trainer in that she will make sure I go to the gym 4 days a week.
She stuck with curves 4 times a week for 2 years until it closed, now that it has reopened she is back on track. We go at lunchtime so I have no excuses.
I want to be fit enough to play netball next winter.I tried 1 game this season and couldn't understand why my body wouldn't do what I asked of it.The pity in peoples eyes as they watched me gasp for breath was awful. I will do it by this time next year,so yes I am trying to get fit enough to maintain my new weight when I get there.
In the meantime if it makes me feel better to lose 10kilos in 2 months then I am going to try my way. Anything has got to be better than where I am right now.
thank you agin for your replies, its nice to know someone cares.
