After gaining 14.5 lbs in the last month I decided its time to make some life changes. I was just layed off and found myself eating a lot of bad food EVERYDAY that was cheap and I was stressed so I was always hungry....I am all too familar with the double cheseburger at burger king, I probably was eating 2-3 of those per day along with other cheap-fattie food that is just as bad. I can get 5 double cheseburgers for what one footlong at subway costs...if you dont have income.whats your choice?
Anyway, I just moved to a new city for work and have a gym right door to my apartment building. Yesterday was my first day working out at a gym setting for a few years.
In the last few years I have gained a lot of weight. I currently am in 40-29 Jeans, with a target of whatever 180lbs is lol, its been so long since I was 180 I forget what size I was wearing.
Part of my weight gain is caused by inactivity caused by the paralysis in my right leg. I cant really move or feel my right leg and have to wear a prosthetic/orthotic brace in order to secure my foot as if I did not have it I would "trip over my foot" while walking. It sucks but it sure beats having a full on peg leg I guess right!
Either way my plan is right now to stop eating poorly. I plan on eating organic cereal w/skim milk and juice in the morning and then having subway/paneras/quiznos for lunch during the workweek. For Dinner I will vary my meals between some TV dinners and other freshly cooked bread, fresh veggies and fruits along with cheese, eggs and juice.
I am planning on still eating out at nice places on the weekends but that gives me something to look forward to! at least 2 bad meals a week is my plan. So i am shooting for around 1800 calories on the weekdays, My body needs about 2500/day to maintain right now and 2500 on Saturday and Sunday.
Assuming my body requires 18,000 calories per week, I plan on ingesting around 14,000 along with 225 minutes of exercise a week up from 0..that equates to 45 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. 30 minutes cardio/15 minutes of weight lifting. I'm starting off light right now but will work into it over the next few weeks. All my muscles are VERY sore today from a light workout session yesterday so I'm going to wait till thursday to get back to the gym for muscle building, I will do a little jogging/walking however.
I want to lose ~10 pounds a month with diet and exercise alone. I'm not sure how possible it is but one way to find out! I'd like to be down to 230lbs by march 2010 and 200lbs by the summer.
Any recomendations are appreciated! I will be browsing the forums a lot to get advice I'm sure.
