Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jenna; I'm 23 and approx. 215lbs. I've pretty much been overweight my whole life and it has definitely held me back. Finally, I just got sick of it and decided to book my dream trip (a tour of Europe). I fly out May 15th and would love to lose 15 to 20lbs before then. I was considering trying out the South Beach Diet again but would love to hear some suggestions. Here are my before pictures for anyone who is interested (Warning: they are not very pleasant):










Anyone need a weight loss buddy?

Just wanted to say welcome, im not familiar with the south beach diet but i hope you get to where you want to be and get yourself feeling confident before your Europe trip.
You are already an attractive girl btw

Firstly I think you look pretty great for 215. I think you look pretty great full stop. Anyway, I'm happy to be a weight loss buddy if you like. I'm 25, female and was 213 at the beginning of this year. Have lost about 30 lbs in the last 10 weeks through calorie counting (no fad diet stuff). No reason that you can't lose the same!

Also I am in the UK and am planning to fly to the US on May 19th - so it's a goalpost for me as well!

You should set up a diary in the diary section and read some the stickies as they are really good. I would go for calorie counting - it will come off in no time!
 
setting a daily calorie target is definitely the way to go. You can look up your daily requirements on the web. Find something to exercise that you can stick with…forever.

I'm down to be your buddy...

I'm going to school in the Niagara Region right now...not that that really matters, but I find that the more that we relate to each other the easier it will be.

I'm turning 22 at the end of June and I really want to have gotten the ball rolling by then.

I'm 5'7 and about 217lbs...my bod looks like yours pretty much. I want to get down to 165lbs for starters.

For me it's going to be about cutting out junk food, not ordering take out, cooking all my meals, eating more veggies, and cutting out the breads and breading and pasta.

Then there's the whole exercising thing...I need to actually do it. There's no point in getting a gym membership at school right now since I'd have to pay for the whole semester but I'm only here for another month, but I've got a pilates dvd, some p90x, and a long walk to the bus stop. I think that there is a lot that can be done just at home.

I'm looking for a lifestyle change and people to support me. To tell me to put away the bag of chips and to help me forgive myself and help me not give up when I slip up.

Im surrounded by skinny people in my life and I just want to feel good about myself.

I think that I'd be a good help too. I give strong advice, I just need someone to help me follow my own.
