220 to 160...gotta keep going!

Heyo,
In November 2009, I remember being around 220 at my heaviest. I have always been a bigger girl, and I haven't been under 200lbs since God knows when. I guess you never realize how big you are until you start losing weight, or until you see a picture of yourself that makes you cringe. That's what did it for me.

So in about 6 months, I've lost 60 pounds :)) My current goal weight is 140lbs..but we'll see how I feel when I get there..

How did I do it?
I work out like a mad woman. Okay not really, just at least 3 days a week, i usually shoot for 6 though. 2 days of weight lifting class (1 hour each) at the gym, and 4 days of at least an hour of cardio (I like switching around...stationary bike, treadmill, stair master :/). And as far as food, I really just pay attention to what I'm eating. Processed food is my arch enemy, and I look for hidden ingredients in everything that I eat. (I keep my eye out for trans fat in everything and the horrible palm oil that they've used to replace it). I am always keeping myself educated and learning new things about my body and how it responds to food and exercise.

These pictures are really embarrassing for me to post, so be nice :)
Even my current pictures are not quite up to par, and I've never dreamed of wearing a bikini out in public, so don't worry! How much more weight do you think I need to lose to pull this thing off??

Ahh, cheers to 20 more pounds, at least :)
Thanks for looking!

Amanda

I started at 220 and am currently at 160 myself. Amazing what a 60 pound loss can do to your body isn't it? You look really great, congratulations on a job well done! If I may, how tall are you?

I'm just under 5'6.
ahh but thank you both, it's so horrible posting these for everyone to see! but it makes me want to work even harder.

I started at 240. I am 173 right now. Your body type was similar to mine. I am 5'6 as well. You look great so far. Huge difference! Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Youve made amazing progress!!! Keep up all the good work... I myself am new to this site and have just started my journey at 279lbs... Im a bit scared of the idea of posting fotos.. but like you.. im gona bite the bullet and put them on here.... if you can do it and it motivates you to have them on here.. then its what I need too!!!

You're body has changed so much.... definitely keep up the good work.. its good to see really good success stories like yours where your diet and workouts are working and the weight is coming off and you can see the difference in your fotos..!!

Well done!!... and keep it going!! x x

You have done very well thus far and should be very proud. Most people think of diets as a way to get from point A to point B and then they stop. Make it a life style and you will continue your progress in to a lean mean head turning machine.

As for how much you should lose, well that is up to you. You lose as much as it takes until you are happy with yourself. It is a very subjective process.

great job on your success!! and way to be wise about processed foods/trans fats etc. your body will thank you.

Keep up the good work!!!

thanks, ladies :)
LoonyLoo, I think you should do it! I was too chicken to post pictures when I first started :) but I think it's a great way to get your mind in gear for losing weight. When you post your before pictures, post them as a reminder that you are going to have an after picture! Let that be your motivation. Good luck to you, love.

And BigBenny, I couldn't agree more with you.

I've been bigger my whole life, and only now am I starting to see REAL change. I've realized that it's really not about dieting at all. It's about lifestyle, like you said.

On a somewhat different note, I am obviously thrilled with my results so far, but I don't feel like I'm ever going to be happy with my body. Even when I look in the mirror now, I still see fat. I still see everything that I hate instead of how far I've come. I've lost about 4 pant sizes but I am still just as self conscious about my stomach as before. Perhaps I just need to work on my mindset, but does anyone else have this problem?

:/

Wow, you look great!
Especially in the abdominal area.
I also have a small issue with some skin hanging over my navel like that and I'm very pleased to see that if you work hard it does look better, thanks to your pictures.
Keep up the good work sweetie :)

CONGRATS -- you look awesome!
I started at 280 and am stuck at 160 -- boo! lol
