21 Ways to Make Your Diet 100% Easier

thanks

Went through your mail.its good and lots of new knowledge for me..but i didn't understand the fact of eating three servings of grapefruit a day.can u explain it in details..

interesting indeed

Some good ideas in there, BUT I have to disagree with several of them

"5. Pack in the Protein" - I thought we've all come around on this one by now? Too much protein makes your system acidic which has many debilitating health effects. Not to mention the excess bacteria (from meats) and high fat content?

Low energy, slower metabolism...I'm not too sure. I'll stick to "pack in the vegies" instead. It seems to work well for me

Protein helps people maintain their lean body mass while losing fat. If you don't get enough protein, a much higher proportion of the weight you lose will come from muscle, etc. It also takes longer to digest protein than carbs which helps with keeping you fuller longer. Protein is incredibly important.

How does it lower energy levels and slow the metabolism??

A protein shake in the morning is just like a cup of coffee for me. I can really tell if I haven't had enough.

Interesting thread!

I'm working on the grapefruit thing! After being told that I couldn't have grapefruit for over 10 years (medication related), I'm getting back into it! Just had some for lunch! While I'm not having three per day, I'm at least having one per day :)

diet Soda Control

I myself am addicted to Diet Pepsi as it was a comfort food when I was growing up.

I cut back a lot of what I was drinking when I stopped buying it at the grocery store. This way it's not in the house so I don't drink it every day, but I do have it once in a while like eating out. it kind of makes it more special and as long as it's not done a lot I find I can have my soda and eat it, er drink it too.

The tips were helpful but some were simply redundant. The 21 tips simply boils down to 2 factors. Knowledge and Discipline. Knowledge- simply by knowing what is good and what is not and Discipline- by applying/doing/eating only what is good and avoiding what's bad for our health. There is a great short video of this out there from Christopher Guerriero. It's just for free, quick yet informative. Forgot the link. You can just Google it I guess.

10. Stock Up on Frozen Shrimp
"I always have a bag or two in my freezer," says Ellie Krieger, RD, a New York City nutritionist and author of Small Changes, Big Results (Clarkson Potter, 2005). "I add them to stir-fries and pasta or sometimes just serve them with cocktail sauce as a snack." Bonus: At 84 calories per three-ounce serving, shrimp has about a third the calories of chicken and about half that of sirloin. Food snobs, take note: Frozen shrimp is often fresher than "fresh" because it's frozen just after it's caught.[/QUOTE]

Man i love shrimp only i'v been told its full of cholesterol and seeing as my cholesterol level was at 7.2 last time i had it checked that means no more shrimp or shell fish for me for a while

That's silly! :)

Shrimp and shellfish is a great source of protein and other necessary nutrients. You'd be better off eating more shellfish and less read meat and fats ... that will lower your cholesterol.

Newer studies hav shown that dietary cholesterol has very little effect on serum cholesterol. Eat the shrimp!

Beans are really good for lowering cholesterol.

I often have a tin of low sugar / low salt baked beans if I want a warm quick snack.

18. Name That Craving
"One reason women overeat is that they don't hit their food craving right on the head -- they keep bingeing until they're finally satisfied," explains Blatner. Ask yourself what you really want: Salty? Sweet? Smooth? Crunchy? "Food cravings can be broken down into four categories," says Blatner. "If you are craving sweet and crunchy, try a mini bag of popcorn mixed with a little bit of artificial sweetener or even sugar. If you want sweet and creamy, opt for a light vanilla yogurt. If you're thinking about something salty and smooth, try a couple of pieces of low-fat string cheese; if you really want salty and crunchy, try a handful of dry-roasted nuts or soy nuts."

I wish I had read that before today! I snacked on everything today, probably because I didn't pinpoint exactly what I was craving. Thanks for posting these :)

These sound like some pretty good ideas, I have personally been trying to cut back on soda. I find that it isn't very hard to cut back, just sometimes forget about it and have it. :p But yeah, very good tips. I will look back on these later, thanks!

Very helpful insightful tips included there, but I just wanted to say most of your food choices should be from organic foods. Organically grown, fresh fruits and veggies, all variety of nuts, edible seeds, legumes, fish and oil, raw honey, range fed brown eggs are all good for us. You've already mentioned about grains, but this should apply to all the foods. Processing, adding synthetic or semi synthetic additives to food items and packaging them, refrigerating them takes away their food value. Our foods really become junk foods through this long and unhealthy process.
