Yup, the big 2-1 in October! I figure it's a good a milestone as any to try and shape up. I'm sick of going shopping and sweating like a pig trying to squeeze into a Large T-Shirt in a mens store and even finding anything! I'm sick of seeing these smokin' hottie guys everywhere and being waaay too self conscious to say or do anything apart from breaking eye contact before they laugh at me. I'm sick of being the designated fat friend at parties and not being able to get up and just dance like a slut with everyone else!! Haha, we'll I'm joking about the slut bit of course, but I can't help but dream of how amazing it would be if I could actually get into a size 16 at a normal retail store instead of hunting around for XXL's and 22's. First stop, 16! Next stop, 8!!

Motivation is my big thing, I lack it!! I don't know how I'm going to stick to this for 6 days let alone 6 months, but it's getting down to the wire now and if I don't start now I'll never get it done.

So I dunno, I gotta think about exercises I can do sort of discretely. I know it's stupid but I don't want to go out for runs or walks. Out in the public, with my bits jangling up and down and all over the show! I've found a few exercises which you can just do in a little corner, so I'll start off with those. Any suggestions to supplement that idea would be much appreciated! Jeez, I'd be keen on the whole gym thing if it would give me a far bigger advantage than home exercise.

Food is next... arrr, I think overall I eat okay foods. It's not super junky but it's probably not what I should be eating either. Lately I've been trying to cut back my portions and I've been doing well to some extent but sometimes I just can't help myself... :drool5: Yesturday not another fluid apart from water passed my lips, which may not be that big of a deal really but that's huge for me... can't think of any other day I could say that about.

Ah well, I'm gonna start doing the plain yogurt and raspberry thing for breakfast (yeah, actually eating breakfast too!). After that tho... I'm in the central city for uni from 8:30 - 4:30 each day, and the temptation OH MY GOD! Macca's and BK and Wendy's and bloody Indian and Chinese places left right and center! Then it becomes a matter of balancing a healthy lunch for a student budget! Hah, is there anything that you could semi-safely eat at any of those places? As for dinner, well I could live off of grilled chicken and some steamed veges, so I guess that would sort that.

As far as ultimate goal, I wanna lose say 30 - 40 kilos in 6 months. I don't know how realistic that is, but I would kill to be down to 70 - 75 kilos for my 21st. Let me find a converter here... that's losing 66 - 88 lbs to get down to 154 - 165 lbs. Hah, those numbers sound a lot more out of reach in lbs than they do in kilos!

Thanks for reading this if you did (it's a bloody essay!) - I could never talk about this with my friends or family because that fear of failure and ultimate humiliation is just too much! Any help you guys can offer (you've all been there or are in the process of it, after all) would just be amazing. Thanks again and I hope to hang round and jump on the support train!

Hello and Welcome to the boards Alie!! This is a great place, lots of support, giving and recieving..
You may want to start a diary and just check out the sticky threads... my problem is I never checked out the sticky threads lol but I know they are right where you want to start and they are near the top of the Newcomers section and in other avid spots...

Good luck in your goals
and best wishes

I hear ya with the motivation and self-control thing..
I found that AVIDLY keeping track of the food i eat (using FitDay.com or TheDailyPlate.com) helped a LOT.. also helps me keep myself honest about how much i'm ACTUALLY eating... instead of how much i THINK i'm eating..

Motivation will also come the more threads you read and respond to too.. the social aspect of being able to find motivation from others whom share your plight is truly inspiring.

Start a dairy, get a ticker, start tracking your food, and above all (not to be cliche) JUST DO IT! Exercise wherever and whenever you can.. its a habit-forming journey, as long as you start SLOW and make it a LIFE change, not just another "DIET"...

WELCOME and GOOD LUCK!

Keep up the good work...

OMG, doll,:iagree: everything you wrote sounds soooo familiar too me. I am a about 3 years older than you but almost exactly the same weight, I wear the same size, have a very similar goal, and could never spill that much too my family or close friends about this stuff.

Good Luck!

I understand completely about the lack of motivation thing. I can't say "just do it", because I haven't really done it yet, but I do wish you the best of luck. Try doing what that one guy said, and making a fitday journal. I just signed up for one not.. 10 minutes ago and added what I ate today. Tells you how many calories you ate and everything.

Good luck, I hope you can get to your goal.

Thanks for the words folks, very muchly appreciated, and it's good to see we're all relatively in the same boat. Signed up for a fitday thinger, but I couldn't find anything I ate yesterday on it :D All good, will give me some research to do! I'll check out the diary thing over the weekend too.

Thanks again :D
