200 lbs...WHO KNEW???

So...this is my first time on this kind of a website and the first time really committing to weight loss and health. For anyone who wants to offer me some motivation...THANKS! (I will need it). Here are the basics of me...
I am divorced and since engaged to the most wonderful, but hard headed man of my life!
I work for a Criminal Defense attorney as a criminal defense paralegal.
I am in law school.
I raise three dogs (who are awesome!).
And on top of all of that, I have put on about 60 pounds in the past two years!!!! I wake up in the morning and want so badly to go out the door for a run, but after being up until midnight or 1 am studying, and getting up at 6:00 a.m....not happening.
I have a limited amount of time to workout, about an hour or so on Tuesdays and Thursdays, maybe a friday night (if I'm lucky) and the weekends. I have limited time to get to the grocery store and of course, even less time to cook! Knowing all of that, I am determined to get back to my average weight and go beyond that. I am at 200 pounds now and my goal is 135 pounds. I read once that a great motivation to keep going is every five pounds (or other increment as chosen) reward yourself, and not with chocolate or other bad for you foods. Get yourself that pair of high dollar shoes or a new bikini when you get closer to your ideal weight. I'm going to do it this time and anyone that can offer help (or additional time in my week) I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!!!!

welcome to your diary - support at your service and a whole lot of fun too if i have anything to say about it :)

kick back relax and enjoy your stay

Welcome! Have you set yourself a small goal to reach first? I actually needed to lose 110 pounds total, but have set a smaller "target" weight loss of 50 pounds by years end. That way when you accomplish that you will feel great for having met your goal and if you blow it out of the water and lose more, you will feel even better!! That is just one suggestion you might consider using. Good Luck and happy healthy weight loss to you!

Hi Jaime; I love your title "200 pounds...who knew???" Too funny. Isn't that the way with weight gain...it creeps up un-noticed. I remember gaining weight when I was a student also. Eating was my reward for hours of work. Sounds like you're trying to think up some new rewards. I try to do that too. I've got 3 pairs of bikinis I don't fit into. LOL
How close are you to finishing law school? Are you into boxing or are your dogs Boxers? I've been wanting to try boxing, but a little insecure about it.

Awesome support

Wow...thanks for all the immediate encouragement. To answer a couple of questions...I have set small goals, big goals, and halfway in between, but as far as putting a time frame on it, I'm not too sure how to do that. I would love to lose 25 pounds a week, but if we could do that, we would all be much skinnier. So, I would love to look at 3 lbs for the first week, but in my mind I would be ecstatic with five. Is that realistically human???
2Skinny: I have two boxers (and a black lab). I would love to learn how to box, but one hit to my cute (however slightly round at the moment) face, and I would not be happy! For now, I'll stick to dog walks and an occasionally wrestling match with my fiancee!
Today is going to be a great day with lots of fruits, veggies, sunshine, workouts and some hard core studying! Hope everyone gets their goals accomplished today and has some fun doing it!!!!!

P.S. I'm still trying to figure out how to add that cool ticker thing with the BMI...and signature stuff!

Hello and welcome! I'm new here too (about a week or so). Anyways, you were wondering about making the tickers work. I had a hard time but then I noticed a post that helped me a lot. When you're on this site's main page there's a 'newcomers' section, when you go into that there will be a post called 'how to work tickers' ... this has step by step instructions!

Good luck with the ticker and your weight loss!

Hey, I saw that you're quite pressed for time. I'm a big fan (even though I'm not currently using either of these methods) of SlimFast shakes and Healthy Choice, Smart Start or what have you in the healthy frozen foods section. Fresh is ALWAYS better. But for someone on the run, those aren't bad options and they can be tasty once you find your niche. If you have a Target around you, you can generally find those frozen meals as low as $1.77 each regularly. The SlimFast shakes come in so much variety from flavor, to soy, to powder, to ready made, to generic... it takes some poking around. I did really well on the soy power with water (I found that it didn't taste THAT different and that my hair and nails became stronger). I'm also a bigger fan of the WalMart Chocolate Royale ready made shakes. I think they taste better than the SlimFast (personal opinion). SlimFast also works well if you've got a sweet tooth (like me:D ). And I also think that SlimFast is one of those programs you could do for the rest of your life. Now they have a whole line of food products (I haven't tried anything more than shakes and meal bars). Their site is great and it gives a suggested meal plan based on weight and what to do when you reach your goal and are doing the maintenance. It's something to check out. Best of luck! And congrats on the engagement!!:)
