2 workouts per day for maximum results?

Alright, so in high school, the week before school started, we always had "2-a-day" practices for sports. The theory was, I believe, that we would work harder in two sessions than we would in one big long session. It seemed to work. For the most part, after that week of 2 a day training sessions (lots of cardio with sport specific skills thrown in for good measure) we seemed to be in nearly as good as shape as we were when we ended sports before the summer.

Is this complete B.S.? Was it all in our heads? Were we just young, active, and in pretty good shape to begin with? OR did it really do a lot of good?

I've got quite a bit of time the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if I doubled my cardio workouts and did one in the morning and one in the afternoon (around 30 minutes each) if I would get over the "ugh I'm out of shape and can't breathe" stage any faster.

Is it worth it? Thanks for any help!

In terms of weight training, a vast majority of the people would do best sticking with one-a-day sessions.

However, if you're trying to bring up multiple attributes, and depending on many things, you could say that multiple sessions per day would be best.

what about cardio? that's what I was thinking about focusing on. two 30 minute cardio workouts a day, plus pilates a couple a days a week

Sounds like you're missing resistance training to me..... a bit overboard on cardio.

But I don't see a huge issue with it per se.
