hi all , this is the 1st week i have updated my weight. I have lost 1 of the 50lbs i want to lose.

I feel quite dissapointed to have only lost 1lb.

But then when i reflect over the week i believe i can identify why .........

We had an indians the other night , i shared a kebab with the other half, there WAS chocolate biscuits in the cupboard.......... my god what have i been doing. Oh and i went for a burger at the pub with my friend. So really im suprised i even lost a pound.

Where is the motivation , last time i embarked on my weight loss i did superb. Finding it hard to stay on track and avoid the temptation this time.

Any one have some ideas of low fat sugar fixes or alternatives, if i fancy a piece of chocolate then thats it , i have to have it.

Maybe even just writing this is the motivation i need to get my focus, as i can quite clearly see where i have been going wrong. Time to stop kidding myself that i was doing well NO MOREE CHEATING !

Lyndsey ,

Any words of encouragement etc grrreatly accepted
xx

Don't be hard on your self at least you didn't go up. Even if you average a pound a week you will have lost all your weight in a year. If you eat out more than you should then try and make up for it by eating really healthy the next day or upping your exercise. We can eat these things but just have to balance it out during the week.
I eat chocolate but I take one square and eat it really slowly and make it last for 5 minutes and have learnt to enjoy it much more like that than when I used to cram it in my mouth and not even taste it properly.
There's plenty of low cal desserts available in the shops but I try to avoid them as much as possible as they lead to cravings for me. Not everybody finds that so try it for yourself. Fruit is a healthy alternative.
good luck. you can do this just try and concentrate on how much you want this everytime you go to eat something that you know isn't good for you.

I have just been and chopped up some fresh pineapple and watermelon and put it in the fridge in a tub. So if i get tempted by the fridge i shall reach for the fruit instead. I have also decided to plan ahead better , rather than waiting until im starving and grabbing anything i can thats quick im going to plan a day ahead. I have some cooked beef from yesterdays lunch so a couple of slices tonight with salad and a small baked potato with noo butter for tea.

I have a butternut and sweet pot in the fridge that need used aswel so going to make them into soup when i take the lil fella to nursery. mmmmmmm lovely soup that is.

Trying to think of the money i can save from not buying rubbish aswel, might get one of them money tins that u cant open without a tin opener, use it to save up take awway money for xmas :) xx

Good luck IDDP!

One pound is a step in the right direction.

You are on the right track...next week will be another pound...and another etc.

So good luck!

:iagree: Planning ahead is a really good defense! I've found it works really well for me...it takes some effort but it's well worth it!

You might find that you look forward to your healthy snack that is pre-prepared and waiting for you!

Methinks that 1 lbs is the first of many lbs you will lose in the coming days, weeks, months. Just stay focused, eat healthy and move. We are here to encourage and support. :) Welcome to the form!

1lb is still a lb in the right direction! Remember, losing weight is not something you do for a while, then stop and go back to doing whatever you want again. The changes you make now are the changes you'll be doing the rest of your life to maintain, just at different intensities, so make sure you can live with that. So if you have weeks where all you're doing is maintaining, thats a good thing!

One thing I would suggest, count your calories! Then, you'll know exactly how much you're eating and what to expect when you step on the scale. It really is that simple. Have you read the "how many calories should I eat" sticky in the nutrition subforum? That should give you a good starting point for how much you should be eating. Then you can eat whatever you want without worries, as long as you know how many calories you're eating. Think of it this way, when you go put gas in the car, you don't randomly put some amount of whatever kind of gas you can find, and then drive around without a fuel gauge/odometer so you'd basically have to guess when to add more fuel, do you? Well, eating is the same way. Food is fuel, nothing more. Your body needs some, and it has stored some "in the tank" it can use. Counting calories is the pump that tells you how much fuel you're putting in, and the fuel gauge that tells you when you need more and when you have enough. Its a tough concept for some people to buy into, but I've only been doing it a week and already I can't see how I ever managed to lose weight without counting.

Way to go on starting your journey!

I used to look at labels and think oh, this is only 200 calories - that's not much. I can eat this no problem. But I was doing that 5 to 10 times a day, in addition to eating regular meals. I never thought about how many calories were in my regular meals at all either - just about what was in the snacks I was eating.

I was shocked when I first started keeping a food log and writing down how many calories were in EVERYTHING I ate. I could exercise my fool head off and it never really made much of a difference for me. For me the huge difference was in changing how much and what I ate.

The folks here have been super supportive and a great source of information. I'm sure you'll love it here! Can't wait to hear about your progress!

I wish you good luck and good health!

1lb is still good! If you can drop a pound still eating Indians and burgers then you'll do AMAZING next week if you eat perfectly! Do you like dark chocolate? That's much better for you..Or jelly! I snack on jelly pots when I want sweets and stuff :)
