Hi all

I Thought i would start a diary here, so i could update people on my progress who can appreciate the ups and downs of what i am going through

First of all a bit about myself, so you can connect with the diary if you are interested.

i've been heavy as long as i can remember really. looking back i've probably been overweight/obese for around 10 years and at least all the time that weight matters for self confidence! I've yoyo dieted a few times to no avail - sometimes with family members, Atkins, Gyms and all kinds of others of course. And so this New year i told myself i would dedicate all year to getting down to my Bmi weight....so HERE WE GO!

I am 19 years old, Male. My starting weight was 110 Kilos (242.5 Lbs)..i dunno what measurement to put my weight in im from England. and i've been dieting now for about 3 months.

I havn't been a traditional dieter and this time i set myself my own goals and rules, no fad nonsence and no outside influences and its working well at the moment!
I started out with a simple diet i was a REALLY big snacker...fried chicken on the way home....supper every evening and chocolate and crisps inbetween meals. So i cut out all of that. I decided to eat two meals a day (lunch and dinner) and not snack at all inbetween them. I've never been much of a breakfast person.

After about one month on this diet i had lost 5 or 6 pounds...not an awful lot but it was going off gradually so i was happy after the 2nd month went bad I thought that getting some exercise in would be a really good idea aswell.
I started cycling round the local green for about 20 minutes a day but in the winter this was hard to stick to..so it lasted about a week :S
Then recently we bought a cross trainer, only had it about 5 days so far! so i can't tell you much but i am doing an hour on it a day...about 600 calories! and i feel better for it

It is now coming up to the 4 month mark i guess and as of this morning i've lost 1st 2lbs (16lbs)....so i guess its going well even tho it is coming up to the 4 month mark (despite the fact i went to america and indulged too much in the middle.)

I look forward to updating this....i weigh myself on mondays so i will update it then and will see how a week of my crosstraining goes..i'm also trying to walk more places.

Thanks for reading

Congratulations on making some changes.

Whether you know it or not, you have made a big realization. That is....what and how much you eat will determine how much weight you will lose.

The next step is to keep list of everything you eat in a day and write the calories for each item next to it.

When you see where your big calories are at, you will naturally want to lower your consumptions of them or eliminate them.

Do it. Write down everything you eat, everyday, from now on. I do it and I never thought I would need to.

Congrats on deciding to make a big change in your life to become a healthier and happier you. You are off to a great start! Keep up the hard work and keep us updated.

Another day another update

Thanks for the positive feedback. it is a huge encouragement to keep going.

Today i did get on the crosstrainer again for my scheduled hour so off to a pretty good week!

And in regards to dobner i know what your saying but i never wanted to really be one of those people looking at the calories on the pack of a sandwhich and being like "Omg...not this!" ...

I guess i could control my lunch a bit more, i eat at work and sometimes pick up something on the way home..(even fast food - i know im a sinner!)

But 90% of the meals i eat at home are filled with vegetables and good things, the cook (my mother) does not add any salt or sugar and nor do i and as she always watches her weight there is a constant supply of low fat drinks in the fridge!
The other day i picked up a sandwhich as some petrol station tho and it was like 700 damn calories after i looked at it in the car..so i only ate half, now i don't like watching em...but that is ridiculous!

Perhaps i should try and keep to less than 500 Kcal for my lunch...salads and such as i burn off more than that on the trainer every day. then the excess i can use to not die.

I will keep you all posted, thanks again for listening
