18th Birthday Surprise!

Tomorrow is my 18th birthday, and I've been dreading it for a while now because my birthdays have never been celebrated and I've never had the excitement or joy of surprise presents, because my parents tell me what they're getting me.

I went shopping for birthday clothes for myself with my own money yesterday, and gasp! I discovered I'm a size smaller! I really thought I wouldn't be because I gained a few lbs after not exercising for a while, but I've gone from a size 16 UK, to a 14, and I'm now a size 12 in top (almost all tops) and bottom!

Such a wonderful surprise.

I usually hide in sleeved tops but I bought a halter top yesterday with a pretty print on it, and my boyfriend bought me a brown halter top with a beautiful butterfly on it that I've decided to have made into a tattoo for my hip/stomach which he offered to pay for too!

First birthday I've ever been truly happy, and I just had to let it be known I guess. :)

What do you think? Look 18 or no? I guess looking young is a good thing :D
I'll enjoy it for as long as I can!

Congrats=] You look wonderful, maybe on my 18th birthday I will feel as good as you do! haha =]

ooh pictures - you're a beautiful young lady :) I'mnot sure what 18 looks like I just know it's a whole lot younger than I am ...

clothes shopping after losing weight is the best reward ever, especially when the size is a surprise. yay you! :) You look really pretty. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birth day!!! I wish I was 18 again. Congrats on your down sizing. You look great and it sounds like your boyfriend likes it to!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Thank you everyone for the comments. It's just what I needed tonight - my parents haven't mentioned my birthday for months (it's my birthday tomorrow) or wished me Happy Birthday at all so all of those comments mean a lot to me.

Thank you

I'm a few months away from turning 18 myself and my parents aren't big on birthdays either. Last year I got 1 "happy Birthday" from my dad and a Cd my mom used to own as a present.
It actually can cause hurt feelings more than you really want to let on. I'm sorry.
But, I bet your boyfriend will be happy and nice to you, that hopefully will be enough. You look beautiful, by the way, he's really lucky.

Oh, and Happy Birthday!

It really does hurt. I'm sorry your birthday wasn't so good last year thanks to silly parents. They suck, ey? I hope this year is better :)

Thank you :D

Miracle,

I am really happy on your clothing victory. It makes for a great birthday present from yourself.

My family where never big on birthdays either. It wasn't till the birthday before last that I had a party thrown for me (Big 30!!!!) by my wife. Because of the lack of excitement on my birthday I now treat it like it is any other day. It was an interesting feeling when someone took time to remember me on that day.

So from me to you

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!:hug2:

Hope you had a great birthday :).

You look gorgeous in your pic. To be honest I always thought your avatar was made up (taken from somewhere on the net) because its such a cool pic. It looks like a girl from the 50's, but in a really cool way.

Anyway, do remember that there is NO RUSH to looking older. Believe me, once you pass 25 you will want to make sure you KEEP looking young. Seriously!

Don't worry too much about the actual birthdate, not everyone has those sentimental feelings about birthdays (and possibly holidays too?), as your parents, but it doesn't mean they don't love you. They sound like they don't like to show their feelings, but I have a daughter and believe me I love her so deeply and I think they feel the same about you.

Now that you're an adult you can start making your birthday what YOU want it to be. Curvie Girlie from the forum threw herself a great birthday, but it looked like she had to plan it all and there's nothing wrong with that.

:)

Happy Birthday and congrats! I celebrated losing weight also by getting a tattoo. Seven tattoos later I still want more. :)

Ohh I know, I'm already cherishing it. I'm moisturizing my body and face every day so I don't get wrinkles too soon! Note to self: buy some suncream..

I guess. They did say Happy Birthday to me a lot last night and today, and they've been nice today, so I guess it makes up for the lack of mentioning the past few weeks, lol.

:)

I might just do that! Make everyone my slaves and they have to do exactly what I say, muwahaha. Nah not really, but yeah it sounds good. It saves me from being disappointed in the long run. Thanks :D

Lovegood: Haha I think a lot of people want tattoo's when they turn 18. :D I think it's just cause they know they can?
