First of all, let me start by saying that this forum seems like one of the most welcoming and friendly that I've seen in all my days on the Internet haha!

Anyway, I'll give you a bit of a background...

I currently weigh a tad over 15 stone, my aim is around 12.5. But to be fair, I'd love to lose enough to feel comfortable.

I'm a 24 year old guy from Scotland, all my days I've played sport, mostly football (soccer, for any Americans, still haven't worked out if its mostly US or Europe on here) and boxing. I played football to a decent level, but my main obstacle was always that I was carrying a bit of weight, many coaches told me that if I could shed a stone I could've played professionally, something which I'm still a bit disappointed in myself for.

I now run a bar with my mate, which despite being a great laugh and a brilliant social job, is absolutely toxic for my health. I'm not really doing any exercise (aside from walking my dog) and due to running a small and (occasionally) struggling business, I'm working silly hours.

When you only really get a few 10-15 minute breaks in a 12+ hour shift, and you're surrounded by takeaways (chip shops, Indians, bakers and Chinese's) you go for the simple option.

There's also the fact that when working behind a bar, you get a load of drink bought for you.

Anyway, the past few weeks is when I've really started to feel overweight and out of shape and I know I need to get it together. I'm having a wee pig out night tonight (by that I mean I'm having home made soup and a sandwich, plus I had a few pints earlier), then I'm sorting it tomorrow.

Height: 6:3
Starting weight: 210lbs

Target weight (by next summer): 175lbs.

To some people this might not sound like a massive thing, and all my problems are mostly down to my own laziness and drinking too much, which I'll be the first person to admit.

I've had a browse and some people on here's weight loss is unbelievable, but as someone who has been regarded as being 'a bit chubby' my entire life, to get to the stage where there isnt a gut jiggling when I run...is sort of the dream.

Thanks to anyone that has taken the time to read this, and I'll update in a few days.

Hi! I'm pretty new to the forum too, and from my experience these people are AMAZING at keeping you motivated and giving great advice. I think we're a pretty good mixture of North America+Europe; I'm sure there's several from other regions as well, but that's just from what I've seen so far.

I'm pretty sure if I worked at a bar, I would be in the same situation as you. But its great that you know your problem and you're resolved to fix it! You can do it! Just figure out a small plan that will work for you and you'll already be far ahead of where you are now. Good luck!
