Hey everybody! I'm 18 years old right now, and just graduated high school. Right now i weight about 230 lbs. and am 5'6" tall. I've always been overweight, ever since i was a young child. Over the last couple years, though, I experienced a very low point in my life but now I feel like i have things under control for the most part.

My low point came in February of 2010. At that point in my life, I was feeling pretty depressed, and was just eating whatever i wanted whenever i wanted, gaining weight and not even realizing it. I was not even paying attention to my body or weight, and to be honest that point in my life is just a blur, and looking back it's amazing how much things have changed for me in the last 17 months.

In February 2010, which i explained was my low point, I went to the doctor with a simple sinus infection, and weighed in at 285 pounds! When they checked my blood pressure, it was dangerously high. So i decided to change my eating habits, and did so for only a few weeks. Throughout the summer of 2010, i still felt depressed and isolated, and continued to eat whatever i wanted.

But then, when i went to the doctor again in September, she informed me that i had lost 20 lbs! This was indeed exciting news to me, and since i had started my senior year of high school, my depression had subsided and i was feeling pretty good. I started weighing myself on the bathroom scale more often, and decided I was not going to gain that weight back!

But still, it took me until about March of this year for me to finally say "alright, I'm starting college in less than 6 months, i'm still fat, and I don't want to be that way in college!" and so I started watching my caloric intake, and just decided that i was going to do whatever it takes to lose this weight! So since then, I've kept my caloric intake low, and while slipping up a few times, I've been eating well and the weight has continued to come off!

Now i just need to keep motivated so that i keep losing weight and prevent myself from gaining it back!

Hi Austin. Have you checked out the Before and After section? A lot of people are motivated by looking at the transformations of other members throughout their weight loss
