16 year old trying to look better for spring break

Ok, I am new to this forum and am 16 years old from Colorado. I am currently around 5 feet 9 inches tall and weigh around 145 pounds. I am looking to lose about 10 pounds of fat by spring break which is about eight weeks away and am wondering if this is a reasonable amount. I have been naturally thin most of my life until I tore my acl snowboarding at the begining of the season and went into a downward spiral of fastfoods and little exercise. I would appreciate it if I could get some sort of feedback on a diet I should be partaking in and an exercise routine. I have already cut out all fast foods and sodas, and never really liked candies or sweets so hopefully this will help. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Tldr: chubby 10th grader wants to look good for spring break in California

10lbs is pretty realistic in an 8 week period. Just remember, its not an over night change. Just try and average 2lbs a week, which shouldnt be to hard, and you should make it with a few weeks to spare :D. Walking if your knee is able to cope, and your doctor okays the routine. If not, work on the upper body! Abs, arms, back, shoulders, chest.

A few years back I had a slight tear to my ACL hyperextended my MCL and tore my meniscus cartilage at a football practice, so I know what you are going through, and 8 years later I still know what you are going through, but for the most part I troop it.

Hi fellow vegetable!

You can totally do it in this amount of time. I agree with Lollipop about the walking and if not then upper body, but talk to your doctor before you do anything that might prove to be intense.

Food wise, you should be fine since you don't eat a lot of junk, but for the time of your training drink tons of water...TONS. Always have a bottle of water with you. Make sure you sleep enough because that makes a huge difference. And also, try to eat as lightly as possible at night, and not too late. Carry bags of chopped veggies and fruits so that you snack on that instead of buying stuff. There is always extra stuff in prepared foods that you can live without.

For the training period low carb, high protien is good for muscles and losing fat. Don't eat dough, bread, rice, pastas etc...Eat lots of veggies instead. Stuff yourself with salads and steamed veggies with some salt and pepper.

You are young and if you are naturally thin then it should not be too difficult for you to get into shape. Maybe what you need to do is speak to a physical therapist to find an alternate form of exercise that you can do without hurting yourself. You said that you gained weight due to the injury, due to inactivity, I am sure, so find something else to get you moving around safely.

:)

I would talk with a fitness instructor or a physical therapist regarding exercising with a previously injured ACL especially since most aerobic exercises require the use of the legs. If they suggest taking it easy with some rehabilitation exercises then ask them about what they suggest for low impact aerobics such as swimming. Your goal is doable in the short run but if your injury slows you down then please just concentrate on strengthening that and not get bummed out about losing 5lbs instead of the 10 you wanted.

I injured my right rotator cuff about 3 years ago my sr year of highschool and it never really began feeling 100% until I started isolated weightlifting for my shoulders, so I know how it goes.
