Jack G here

Hi my Name is Jack Graham and i weigh 274lbs/124Kg, I am trying to loose
54Kg for when i start college in August.

Reasons - There are hundreds and hundreds of reasons that have made me decide that i want change in the way i live and the way i treat my body. First and most importantly im not happy with myself and before any other reasons are taken into account i need to be happy with my self to continue with life. I believe the way to do this is by getting into shape and developing a more healthy lifestyle. Other reasons i want to loose weight are because at this stage in my life im starting to develop mature relationships with my peers and i am starting to become more interested in girls although i have had a few girlfriends so far i believe that my phyiscal appearance is holding me back in that aspect. It is also holding my social life back because when i go out on "the pull" i rarely end up with anything i am lucky enough to have good friends who have not "dumped lard lad" but even still when we go out on those nights i have no fun anyway i believe becoming fit again would reassert me in my social life as il be able to play football and do various other things i used to do and enjoy our nights out. Another reason is because of heart disease and other illness caused by Obeseity. As a Healthy Child i know what it is like to be in shape and i miss it and i want that feeling back.

Motivations - My motivations to lose weight are my uncle gary who lost 8 stone which is 1 stone more then what i am planning to lose. My friend sohan who lost 2 stone and is now in a strict gym regime and doing well in his training. My friend Daryl who i have started going to the gym with and is a good friend.

My plan - Im not to sure interms of diet i know obviously what to eat and what not to eat but for the first month i am doing a 6 week clense.

Hi Jack,

I'm old enough to be your grandad but we've all been there, getting the hang of pulling girls takes a bit of practice. :)

Girls have the same problem too. What we learn eventually is that it's far less about appearances and more about who you are. Being confident in yourself and fun to be around counts for most but if losing a few pounds boosts your confidence then go for it.

First step might to find out why you're eating more calories than you need. Might be you're eating too many snacks or might be your mum's looking after you too well. If that's it then tell her what you want to do and ask her to put less on your plate. Some helpful stuff for teens at and

And don't think big blokes can't pull. Pavaroti didn't do too bad and I bet your mum remembers Demis Roussos. Being a man-mountain didn't stop him pulling the girls in droves. :)

Hi Jack

Jack - You are such a handsome young man. I think that getting in shape for yourself is the most important thing. When you are feeling good about yourself you won't be able to pull the girls off! I think what they will really be drawn to is your new self confidence. That's what is really attractive.

If they have weight watchers where you are you might want to check it out. It is a very easy way to learn how much / which foods to eat. The WW plan is also pretty flexible.

Good luck!

Welcome Jack. You are going to do great on your weightloss journey. You came to a very supportive place.

Another young person ^^ YAY!
Um, good luck on your weight-loss journey :)
As fat2fit said, you're in a very supportive place.
Keep up the attitude and keep your motivations in mind, and you'll be at your goalweight in no-time.

Hey, nice to see another youngin! we're the same age. :]

first of all, let me say, you pull off your weight VERY well. you'll seriously always find support here, so hopefully that will assist you in losing the weight you want gone.

Hey! Nice to see another under 20 person here! I'm Lindsey, and I'm 18. Actually, come to think of it, you're a year younger than I was when I first joined this place.

It is great to see a young person getting into a healthy lifestyle early in life. Stick with it and develop a great lifestyle you can take into adulthood.

Welcome to the forum. I am in the UK too.

You do carry your weight well.

I agree with what Ned told you about confidence. Believe in yourself and appear genuinely interested in what the girl thinks and what she likes.

Compliment an intelligent girl on her appearance and a beautiful girl on her intelligence. You would be amazed at how well received this is.

Good luck in your quest to become more healthy and lose some weight.

Best wishes
Margaret

The Journey of a Man

Hey Jack. Already you should feel pretty good about yourself. You know now from the reponses that you do in fact carry your weight well. I have just begun my journey as well, and although in my late 20's, I know that time is running out for me to take control of this thing before I am well in to my 30's. You have youth on your side, so stay positive, and develop those healthy habits now so that they will become easy to live later. Well done on your commitment, and be healthy for yourself. Girls will come eventually...

I was once told. When you love... Love with all you have. You may get hurt sometimes, but at it is better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all... Go well my friend.
