Hi everyone. My name is Zander and I'm a Sophmore in High School. I used to play sports and I was in really good shape but then I hurt my neck a few years back and I haven't been able to play since. I've always been a big kid but since then I've really let myself go. I am 230 lbs and 5 " 10.

I've had a gym membership for about three years, but i have only been trying to lose weight for about two. I work out on a regular basis and watch what I eat but I haven't found anything that works. I just stay the same or gain a little more weight constantly. Most of my weight has accumulated in my stomach and chest. Being in High School it doesn't do much for my self confidence to have a bigger chest than some of the girls at my school.

Can anyone please help me.

It all comes down to diet. No matter how much you work out, your diet is what will be the biggest factor. My advice is start with a food diary. Write everything you eat for a week. Be completely and brutally honest about it. After a week, look at what you have been eating and start making better choices and reducing the amount. It is all about calories in vs calories out. Also, start reading about portion sizes and calories in things (sites like calorieking and fitday). Education will aid you now and the rest of your life in this.

Take Jericho's advice.. that is what worked for me, it really helped me to figure out what I needed to do. I have also been trying to lose weight for two years, and like you have only maintained or gained a little weight. High school really does not do anything for your self confidence - it shattered mine :( You might want to check out online what your Basic Metabolic Rate and all the rest of it (most websites provide plenty of tools) and it will give you a rough idea of how many calories you should be eating :)
