Hey, everyone i am new on the this forum! so shall start by saying Hi =] !

Well am here to talk about my weight so here i go

Around june-dec last year i gained weight whilst studying, once i took a gap year out my weight balloned and to be honest i dint really think it was that bad until DEC 08! i am only 5'0 and when i came back from holiday in brazil i became 10stone 7lbs ! MY BMI was 28-29 !I realised i had to do something about it all!!! so with exercise and doing crazy celeb diets i lost a stone in 4 weeks =]! (this included body fat) ... ( my weight is like a yo yo, one min its stable one min it shoots up)!

I am now 9 stone 5lbs, and would like to become 8stone 4lbs ! (so i can fit in my old jeans) so the main question is has anyone lost weight and been able to keep it off ?

Also does anyone have any motivation tips???? i have the problem (am not too sure if anyone else has it but, i eat healthy all day and when i get back from universty i stuff my self and say too my self ' tomorrow i wil start the diet' but end up doing the same thing the next day so i just keep gaining the weight !!!!

Last question people : how many calories should i eat to loose 1lbs-2lbs of fat a week. ( i am sick of all the fad diets)

Thanks

Kylie...

Hey Kylie,
I havn't been on this site for a while and it seemed a lot of the threads had already been going for a while so I was glad to find this one. I also have 15 lbs to go :) congrats on the weight you lost! I understand weight sneaking up on you, that happened to me as well. To answer your question I will tell you what I did and what I think is the best diet plan I could imagine with the education in nutrition and metabolism;
1200 calories/day in the form of small 100-300 cal snacks every 2-3 hours. this keeps your metabolism up and you're never hungry because always eating. This plan will go a lot further if you eliminate junk foods (refined sugars and gressy stuff) because the healthyer you eat the more you can eat. snacks included for me things like yogurt, fruit, veggies, 1/2 turkey sandwhich on whole wheat or rye with veggies and no cheese or sauce (except mustard), skinless chicken, fish, etc... I found when I followed this I never had cravings (which occur when your body is lacking a nutrient, but for some reason we usually crave bad things) and always had energy. There is also a more beneficial time to eat certain things. Carbs such as your whole wheat bread and fruit are easily accessable energy and best eaten early in the day or before a workout, while later in the day your snacks should be mostly protein and (good) fats. Exercize is also very important, I can't stress that enough. With all this being said I was able to consistently lose 3-5 lbs/week and have kept it off since 1200 cals is enough to keep your body from slowing your metabolism down or trying to conserve, so it's not like after you lose weight you start eating again and put it all back on.
I hope this offered some insight, I know it took a knowledgeable friend telling me how to eat properly before I was able to get on a roll. Also it may sound lame to some, but food journals are sworn by for a reason. it really helps to plan your snacks out a day or 2 ahead of time so that you don't need to spend as much time thinking about food. you're also less likely to cave and make a bad choice if you know you have another meal coming up in a couple hours. And if you're tempted to eat at night just tell yourself to wait and wake up hungry to a good breakfast in the morning instead.

I hope we're able to keep posting here and keep each other motivated :) Good luck!

heyyy , thanks for the ALL tips! much apprciated i was reading up on diets before and i may try the 1000-1200 calorie diet. Alot of people have done the diet and like your self have said it works really well. :coolgleamA::hurray:

I will try and keep everyone updated ( on a new post ):seeya:
