14.1 lbs down since 4/25!

So I started a new low-calorie diet... similar to South Beach (from what I've heard). Plenty of lean protein, some fruits and veggies, NO sugar or grains, and all low fat foods. It's NOT as hard as it sounds, but sometimes it gets boring!

My jeans are definitely looser (like they're always falling down... kind of annoying but encouraging at the same time) and my waist is looking smaller!

I started on 4/25/09 and have lost 14.1 lbs as of 5/22/09. My start weight was 176.4 and now I'm 162.3! (I'm 5 feet and 19 years old, btw.) I want to be 108 lbs by the end of October 2009... My doctor informed me this could be possible with hard work (i.e. sticking to the diet and working out for 30 minutes 3+ times a week).

The only thing I'm worried about is that I really like sweets... Like muffins! This is my weakness... But I think I can do it! Even if it takes a little longer than I want it to, I'm excited about the progress so far! :D

Will post more pics once I lose more weight :)

Wow, that is pretty impressive progress so far! I find that I do best not to deny myself anything - but to practice portion control with EVERYTHING. If I really want an icecream Drumstick, I'll have it, dangnabit - but only half. The other half goes straight in the rubbish bin (or into my husband!).

I do think its also a good idea to keep your eyes on a sustainable way of eating. I think a person can deny themselves for just so long; then they run the risk of going crazy and binging on it.

JM2C,
Best wishes on your journey:hurray:

Thanks! Yeah, the difference isn't intense (YET) but I just wanted to show what 14 lbs can look like... And I know denying yourself can be so hard but this strictness is only for a short period of time, I promise! I could not last very long on this... I love bread too much!

Congrats !! You can definitely tell. Has it been challenging to stick to your eating plan? I'm good with getting my exercise in, not so good with the eating part.

Wow....that's great! I can definitely see the difference...especially in your belly. Keep up the great work!

CarlinBlue, I'm the opposite of you... Good at sticking to the diet, not as great with the exercise. What keeps you motivated to work out, and what kind of exercises do you do?

The diet has been difficult and easy, depending on the day. I eat a lot of lean chicken already, so that part is easy. The worst part is going out to eat; I have to special order a lot of things... But it's not so bad, it keeps my cooking skills creative and saves me money!

Another difficult thing: sometimes fruit is not sweet enough to satisfy my sweet-tooth. BUT I just found out I can make chocolate milk with non-fat milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and splenda. So, I think I'll be good :D

Thanks to everyone for all your kind words! It definitely makes it easier to stick to the diet!

Very nicely done so far... looking forward to seeing you progress.

Best to you!
