135 Here I Come!!

Hey Lisa

Sorry I haven't been around much I am still adjusting to my new work schedual. Not everyday can be perfect, so stop beating yourself up when you have a bad day! You can't change the past you can just learn from it and move on! Your workouts are great! I know how hard it can be to controle the snacking I am right there with you, and my hubby keeps stuffing his face in front of me ....but we can do it!!!!

I know what you mean about the wedding blues, so much work and planning for that one day and then it's over so quick....It will pass!!!!

I took your advice and started my walking / running again tonight! I am already feeling better and more motivated!!! Thanks for inspiring me!!!!

I agree with the others. We aren't going to get it right every day of our lives. If we can get it right most days then we have succeeded. The main thing is to not go backwards and keep going backwards and I think if we continue coming on line here and support each other then we will all be able to achieve that :D

That's awesome Veronique!! So excited and proud!!

You are right but I always expect to see the results right away!

Ok so yesterday was a good day - I still snacked quite a bit in the evening and had microwave popcorn before bed so I didn't weigh myself this morning because I woke up really puffy from all the salt and knew it wouldn't be a good reading. I might wait till Friday or see how I feel when I wake up tomorrow. I just knew it would get me down not to see 153 today.
Here's how yesterday looked:
B - 1 cup fresh strawberries, 1/3 cup all bran buds & silhouette yogurt
Snack - 1 cup mint green tea
Exercise - 30 min at the gym - 1.1 miles, back, side and arm weights
L - big veggie salad - same as Monday
D#1 - ham sandwich on rye - mustard & lettuce w thin sliced honey ham
Exercise - 2 1/2 hours golfing, pulling my cart.
D#2 - 3 slices ham w honey mustard & 20 cherries
Snacks - microwave popcorn, 10 crackers with PB!
I asked hubby to hide the PB again because I have been snacking on it every night since we got it! I shouldn't have bought it but it was on a super sale!!
Tonight I plan to get back to running - at least 5km.
This past week I ran 35km - hoping to up it to 50km next week.
Only 23 days till the half marathon!!!

Looks like a good day! I hear ya about that peanut butter... I honestly need to try giving it up for a while. It's sooooo good though :( I am going to weigh in on Friday too... let's stay strong, only 2 more days! Get that run in later! :) Have a good day Lisa!

Doing Great

Thanks for stopping by! I don't have a computer at home so although I did try tracking online it didn't last long because I couldn't update it regularly. I did try logging a couple days I had written down and it was interesting to see the breakdown - maybe when I finally get a computer and internet at home I will give it another try. Right now I think just keeping my own hand written journal and then coming on here in the morning and updating will keep me accountable - I'll see how it goes and might decide to go back to WW.

Ok so yesterday was a good day - finally! And let me just say it made waking up this morning easier than the past week has been. Almost every morning for the past week I lied in bed thinking of reasons to call in sick but this morning I just got up and felt good.
Ok so I haven't had a chance to get groceries yet so my eating choices aren't that great but I kept my calories on the low side and didn't indulge in night time snacking!!! Here's how it looked:

B (9am)- ff activia yogurt & all bran buds (I like to eat my breakfast at work so I have more time to sleep in the morning but I need to come up with something better to bring because I am getting really sick of this.)
L (12pm) - 1 can campbell's tomato rice soup made with water
Snack (2pm) - cucumber from my dad's garden - plain
D (3:45pm) - lean cuisine chicken panini (340 cal) I was feeling really hungry and wanted to go to the gym after work but knew I needed something to give me some energy - I think because I have been skipping out on my protein
Exercise - 40 min treadmill - 5 min warm up, 32 min run at 6 mph, 3 min cool down. After about 15 min running I thought I was going to give up and slow down to a fast walk but I just brought it down to 5.5 mph for about 3 min and then felt ready to bring it up to 6pmh again. Long stretch.
Ran home quickly to change for baseball
Exercise - 1 1/2 hour baseball practice - lots of catching and throwing and practicing batting.
D #2 (9:30pm) - 1 1/2 cups apple cinnamon cheerios w 1/2 cup skim milk
Snack (10pm) - plain cucumber w salt
bed

So I really hope to get to the grocery store tonight but the thing is I can't go before the gym because then the groceries would sit in my car and afterwards I'm too sweaty to go. I have a baseball game at 6:30pm so I'm not sure I will get there today. I think I still made good choices considering because I also could have made Kraft dinner when I got home from baseball but I decided that wouldn't be good :)

Oh and I took some measurements this morning. Looks like I gain all my weight around my middle - I can feel it too.
Chest - 36'
Natural Waist - 30'
Waist at Belly Button - 36'
Hips - 39'
Thigh - 22'
And I weighed myself this morning and I was down to 155.2 so my new goal for Wednesday will be 153 - I'm hoping there is still some water weight to lose there. Feeling good so far though and looking forward to another good day! It's incredible how much eating right and exercising changes my mood. Till tomorrow forum friends!

Thanks for posting your measurements, since we are the same height, it gives me a good way to look at my own self objectively. I think we are about the same right now except my thighs are thicker than yours and my bust is smaller. I am holding steady at 145 but my new goal is 135 and then maybe get a little smaller. Will need to reevaluate once I get there. I would try to give up all alcohol if you can (dont drink your calories!) and let yourself indulge a little more in foods rather than empty drinks. Also keep up the exercise. You're so good about that.
I have just tried a new workout video that uses really small but deliberate movements and it works out your thighs and butt to make them stronger/skinnier - it's called CORE FUSION - Exhale: Core Fusion - Thighs & Glutes (2009)
avail via Amazon.com. It is divided in to five ten minute segments that you can do all at once or on their own. I did the first three in a row last night and I feel great today. The last two segments seemed a little harder so I decided to wait to try those later on. Keep going, you're so on track and in tune with your body.

You are doing so great Lisa!!! I want to ask my hubby to hide the intire kitchen right now! Your eating looks great for today and your workout are always great! I went for my walk/run again today...honestly I didn't want to go but then I read your journal and decided I needed a work out! So Thanks for comming on here everyday!

Hi Lisa and congrats again on getting married. You mentioned going to Vegas when you turn 30. Are you 29? I think women most women get even more beautiful in their 30's. I often tell my wife that. She just turned 33 and looks hotter every year. LOL but I'm serious. So you have many great years ahead of you.

I also think weight lifting is probably the most important part of achieving a fit look. Keep up the good attitude! I'll be checking in and routing you on!

Quite possibly one of the greatest posts. EVER. lol.

Looks like a good day! I hear ya about that peanut butter... I honestly need to try giving it up for a while.
I went for it last night and to my surprise my hubby actually listened and hid it!! I was so relieved. Now I won't think about it every evening.

Thanks for posting your measurements, since we are the same height, it gives me a good way to look at my own self objectively
I do the same thing! I actually have that dvd - maybe I should get the dust off it and try it again! I have a feeling it would be really tough and put me out of commission for a few days, lol!

I went for my walk/run again today...honestly I didn't want to go but then I read your journal and decided I needed a work out! So Thanks for comming on here everyday!
Aww thanks for that sweet post Veronique! This site really helps me too - yesterday I really wanted a bagel but I came on here and read a couple inspiring posts and no longer thought about the bagel! Keep up the workouts and you'll be in the 160's in no time!!

I agree and once this half marathon is over I want to go back to kettle bell 3 times a week. I just don't think I could do it right now with trying to get in 50km's of running and I know I would be so sore since I haven't gone and wouldn't be able to run for a few days so I'm putting it off for a bit but making sure to get SOME strength training in weekly. Thanks for stopping by! It's great to see you here more regularly.

Ok so yesterday was a good day – I drank a ton of water and still felt thirsty all day. I also got a lot of fiber in all my meals so I’m going for a good weigh-in tomorrow. Here’s how yesterday looked:
B – 1 cup fresh strawberries, 1/3 cup all bran buds, silhouette raspberry yogurt (165)
Snack – 2 cups mint green tea
L – Campbell’s rustic spiced lentil & vegetable soup (300 – this was really good and filling)
Snack – 2 cups mint green tea, nectarine (60)
Exercise – 8km on treadmill, 50 min including warm-up & cool down, stretch
D – hubby cooked dinner again!!! 4 oz boneless pork chops (250), 1 cup baked brown beans (260), coleslaw mix & 2 tbsp dressing (185)
Hubby got home from baseball and I was in the middle of making salads for my lunches and he said he felt like exercising ( this never comes out of his mouth). So I jumped on the chance and asked him to go for a run with me. He said yes so I stopped what I was doing and ran to get dressed (I knew if I waited 1 min he would change his mind).
Exercise – ran 3km with hubby – he was really impressed that I could keep up with his speed the whole time and today he could barely get out of bed because he’s so sore, lol!!
Snacks – small veggie salad w balsamic vinegar & a splash of olive oil (175), some thin slices of honey ham w honey mustard (150)
Total calories – 1545
I think I burned close to 700 calories running.

So as you can see I started counting calories again – I wasn’t successful with it last time and if it doesn’t work I will go back to counting WW points. It’s just hard because I’m always estimating because I don’t have an electronic scale – hmm maybe I will invest in one! I’m really curious if I’m underestimating or overestimating.
Have a great Thursday forum friends - I've been missing Alta, Juni, Luz, Janvier to name a few :grouphug:

Nice day yesterday! That is great that your husband ran with you... and so funny that he was feelin' it today! You should ask him to run with you more often so you have more motivation to get out there and get ready for the half! As for counting calories... I'm sure your numbers are in the ballpark of what you actually consumed... but a scale would be nice!! Just try as much as possible to eat things that you know the amount of calories in it. One more day til weigh in... we got this! Have a great day :)

When we are open to it, you reach such great answers of life and thoughts of oneness to the world, that you can't do anything but LOVE the act of it! After a while once you get going, so does your mind, and you lose sense of time and you just keep going, hearing your breathing, only seeing and caring about the next step, glaring at life moving by slowly and beautifully. We realize we are that extension. It's AMAZING!!! I wish that gift for you as well, Amiga, if you don't already have that!!! I stopped for a while because I wasn't aligning with that feeling, I feel it now though!! I see it, I smell it, I hear it, I taste it, I can touch it,...It's there, full PASSION!!!

Thanks Sarah - I would love it if my hubby wanted to do more outside with me in the evenings and I think slowly he may come around but he's usually beat after work and not wanting to do anything physical. He was so sore from that little run too - I love to rub it in because I'm not sore at all!
The calories thing is tricky for me when it comes to meat because there are so many different varieties and every website has a different idea how many calories one has. Also when my hubby is cooking with olive oil I know that adds calories but how many? I try to get him to use the cooking spray or soup broth but I know he adds it most times. I'm so glad we are getting back on track!

ALTA!! I missed you too!! Thank you so much for the sweet words!
It feels good to be married - not much different than before except I feel way more comfortable in my skin. I have no clue why but now I don't mind being naked around him and don't feel as shy and nervous as I did. When we were on our honeymoon I didn't want to get dressed!
I'm loving the training for the half marathon and once it's over I might consider training for a full one! We'll see how it goes though. I love the feeling of running and feeling upstoppable. Exactly how you described it!
Your right that is doesn't matter as long as I'm enjoying life but the funny thing is I'm soo much more happy when I'm on the boat! I just feel better and it reflects in all parts of my life.
So glad to have you back and posting again - I knew I'd see you soon - you wouldn't dare leave us :) It would be amazing for you to come visit!! We have a spare room!! You should pick up Sarah on the way too!

Ok so yesterday was a great day and this morning I was 153.4 on the scale which is an improvement! I'm aiming to be 152 next week. I think losing 2 pounds a week is just not possible for me anymore. I'm not ready to start working out morning and night to make it happen. I'm just going to carry on with getting my runs in and making sure I'm getting enough protein. Here's how yesterday looked:
B - ff activia yogurt (80) & 1 cup fresh stawberries (60) (I forgot the bran buds :banghead:)
Snack - 2 cups mint green tea
L - big veggie salad - romaine, shredded carrot, green onions, cucumbers, chick peas, black olives, cherry tomato w ff tomato & oregano dressing (250)
Snack - 1 cup mint green tea, nectarine (70)
Exercise - 6.4 km's (4miles) treadmill - 40 min total with warm up and cool down. Running mostly on 6.3 mph and incline 1, stretch. 6 resistance machines 15 reps, 3 sets each - back, sides, shoulders, arms
D - Tortilla pizza - spinach tortilla (200), salsa (30), ff cheese slice (50), green olives (25), honey ham (100), onions (10) (total 415)
Snack - 3 cups coleslaw mix (60), 2 tbsp dressing (140), hot sauce (5) (total 225)
Snack in bed - ff activia yogurt (80)
Total Calories 1180
So a little low today but I did good with my night time snacking. We also are out of all healthy snacks in the house so I need to stop at the fruit stand on my way home today.
I'm feeling good today - I love Fridays and the weekend but it seems I'm always just getting into my routine and getting my eating right just before the weekend hits and then I get derailed and start all over again. If only I could stay on track the next few days. I need to be strong and carry on with counting calories.
This weekend we don't have much planned. Tomorrow I'm going out for lunch with a girlfriend and catching an afternoon flick. We might go see "The Switch" - anyone have any reviews? I want to take today or tomorrow off running and then have a long 15 km run either Sat or Sun - probably Sunday because it's supposed to be really hot tomorrow and I want to make the long run outside so my feet get used to the pavement.
I'll be back Monday to let you know how I did. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay healthy forum friends!

You know, I heard somewhere that 2 pounds a week isn't really the healthiest way, that it's really supposed to be 1% of your body weight. So, when you are in the 150's (like you are now) you should really aim for 1.5 a week.

Anyway, keep it up!

I just turned 28 but I agree with what you are saying and I'm hoping to turn some heads in my cougar years!

Are the 30s the cougar years? I thought that's what the 40s were for? :biggrinjester:

Ah a half pound difference is no biggie. I think 2 lbs per week will be tough however.

Lisa, I am a "little" concerned that you might have trouble losing weight at all while you are training for your 1/2 marathon. After I had lost 57 lbs I decided to train for a sprint triathlon. I increased my weekly exercise from about 6 hours up to 10 hours and sometimes even 12 hours. I did not eat bad by any means. I ate healthy and I ate to fuel my body for all of the swimming, biking and running I was doing. I weighed 194 when I started my training and about 8 weeks later I weighed 199 on race day. I'm not trying to discourage you by any means but I think you have two goals you are trying to achieve right now, the 1/2 marathon and the weight loss. Hopefully you can be happy if you only achieve one of them but we are all hoping you achieve both. You have tons of time. "Fitness is a journey, not a destination." Dr. Kenneth Cooper. I hope your journey has many challenges, few setbacks and many triumphs.

You are right Mizzie and I like the sounds of that better! I was just hoping more water weight was going to come off but it turns out it's fat I gained, lol!

haha here where I live the 30's are cougar's at the bars! Some 40's though too!!

Yeah I had been reading a lot about that too. I'm still hoping with all the runnings I'm doing I can lose a pound or two but my main goal for the next three weeks is concentrating on running and not so much weight loss and finishing that half marathon in under 2 hours and 30 minutes. If I happen to lose it's like icing on the cake! Once the half is over I can get back to more strength training and watching my calories closer. Thanks for being concerned and reminding me what's important right now!

Ok so the weekend once again was not so great but I think it was one of the better ones.
Friday - I left work at lunch and hubby wanted to go to a restaurant to grab a bite but I had my salad already made so I turned down the offer and told him to make something at home too. We had home made turkey burgers for dinner with corn on the cob and after dinner I walked to the corner store to get some whole wheat nachos to eat with the brushetta I made earlier - I thought it was a pretty healthy snack and got me out walking. The day was ending really great and around 10pm four of my hubby's friends popped in and wanted to play a game of poker so I joined. I started with a couple white russians and then got into some wine. Around 1am they ordered pizza and I had two slices.
Saturday I woke up feeling pretty tired and hung over but I had plans with my girlfriend to do lunch and an afternoon movie. I ordered an opened face chicken sandwich with fries but I barely had any of them because I wasn't feeling well. We stopped at one of those bulk stores on the way to the movies and I got some chocolate and gummy candies. I barely ate any and brought them home to hubby. I fell asleep on the couch till 8pm and when I woke up hubby had ordered Chinese food. Not a good end to the already bad day - hardly any water and no exercise - booo.
Sunday - woke up at 10am and went for a 5km run outside - it was already so hot and the sun was burning or else I would have gone longer. Hubby made plans to go golfing so I decided to go to the gym - only after I ate some Chinese left overs. At the gym I warmed up on the treadmill .3 miles and than ran 1 mile at 6.4 mph. Then I went and did some arm weights and then got back on the treadmill and ran another mile. Did this one more time for a total of 3.5 miles after the cool down and lots of arms & back. Went to my parents for dinner which was really healthy - salmon, brocolli, garden salad and potatoes from their garden. After dinner I picked up my hubby's sister and we went for a 5km run/fast walk since she is signed up for the half too. So in total Sunday I ran mostly and walked a bit 15km! plus an arm workout! I had some of the bulk candies when I got home before bed.
This morning it's back to healthy eating! I really wanted to stop for a bagel and cappuchino but I talked myself out of it!
Hoping to get a good workout in tonight at the gym and maybe a run outside once it cools down. Three weeks to go!

Wow - awesome Sunday to end your weekend! Way to get all that running in :D Weekends never seem to go as planned but hey, something is better than nothing! What movie did you see/how was it? I am moving out to my house at school today, we won't have internet until Wednesday afternoon so I will try to get on here if I can but if I don't, kick some butt the next two days and I'll catch up with ya then :D Take care!

Sounds like you have your head in the right place. Keep on racking up the miles as best you can. Completing a half marathon is a HUGE accomplishment. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks Derrick and Sarah
Went to the gym last night and ran 4 miles. Did a small workout later at home - 5 min treadmill, climbed the stairs for a while, did some kettle bell swings (I bought a 25lb bell on the weekend!!), "v" sit on the BOSU and some crunches. Also a good stretch because my legs were getting stiff and sore last night.
Eating wasn't great - lots of pasta for dinner followed by some chips in the evening - hubby did the grocery shopping this week and cooked last night and my dedication went out the door at the smell of dinner.
Pretty proud of all the runnings I have been doing and not trying to get down over the eating.
Was going to go golfing tonight but it's just too bloody hot! Already this morning at 8am it was 30 degrees (Celcius) outside! I didn't sleep well because it was so hot in the house - guessing tonight is going to be the same.

Well another not so great eating day - I started the day off wrong by stopping for a bagel and cappuchino on the way to work. Today is a new day though and I've started it right.
Yesterday was great for exercise - I ran 6.8 miles on the treadmill in 1 hr and 5min including a small warm up and cool down followed by a stretch. The first 3.2 miles I ran at 6.6 mph - an all time high for me! Then I switched it to 6.2 mph and an incline of 1 for the remaining time. I felt like I could have kept going at that pace but I had told hubby I would be home at a certain time and didn't want to worry him. I'm going to take a break from running today since I've done a lot in the last three days and think my legs need a little break. In the past week I ran a total of 53.3 km's!! Wow I actually reached a goal I set for myself!! I'm going to up it to 55km's for next week!
Tonight is hubby's baseball playoffs and they are in game 5 so it's going to be exciting! If they win we might have to go out for a celebratory beverage or two!

Wow, you're my new hero. You're up there with Jjjay. I've never run faster than 5mph. Great going on both speed and distance. :)
