130lb Journey Down the Scale

Thought I would post up what I have/going to eat today.

Breakfast: Fruit and Seed oats with 50g frozen blueberries and 200ml skim milk - 312 Cals
Lunch: Milo oats with 125ml skim milk - 159 Cals
Dinner: Chicken Burrito (250g chicken breast, 100g Kidney beans, salads, salsa and spices) - 817 Cals
Late night Snack (studying for exams) - Vanilla meal replacement shake made with 250ml of milk and 75g of frozen raspberries - 270 Cals
Other Snacks: 250g of Grapes, 1 packet popcorn, 5 sugarfree lollies, diet drinks - 362 Cals

Total: 1918 Cals out of 2000
17% Fat, 35% Protein, 48% Carbs

I was REALLY craving porridge the whole time I was on the diet, so I kinda overcompensated today. I also had next to no calcium on the diet, so I'm trying to get my calcium intake back up, unfortunately today it was all with milk. Tomorrow I will include yoghurt as well and not have oats for lunch. Fortunately I don't have to worry about prostate cancer! I need to eat more protein too, tomorrow I will work on that! I'm trying to drink all my meal replacement shakes at the moment to get rid of them, because I've got about 90 of them and they cost a fortune! I'm bulking them out with milk and fruit though to give them better calorie value and get my fruit and calcium intake up.

I like the way you're dealing with the meal replacement shakes, very strategic :) (sorry I haven't commented on your diary before, I don't always like to comment on diets I don't know much about, but since you're off that diet now, :waving: )

OMG I just had one of the meal replacement shakes and it was HORRIBLE! I'm chucking them all out right NOW. Even with raspberries and fake surgar mixed in it was just disgusting!!! :( I've still got some better tasting (but more calorie laden) ones to use though.

I weighed myself this morning that to check that I'm still going in the right direction, and I lost 500g! I won't count it as official just yet, but I like that the numbers are going down again.

Ugh. I just ate like 10 profiteroles and a vanilla slice... for about 1250 calories! WAAAY over my daily calorie allowance now :( Other than that though it was a good day... why did my MIL have to bring home stupid pastries that taste amazing?

I had an aunt that used to bring us sweet things all the time and my mom thought she was doing it on purpose to keep us fat LOL
Good job on the loss so far!5.2 kg rocks!

AHAHAHA Xenon! My theory is the same with my mother in law... she reckons that if I have enough willpower I should be able to resist it though... little does she know what goes on in the mind of a fat person though! I ended up nearly 2000 calories over for the day, which is a whole day overeat :( I'm figuring if I just keep going staying on calories and not let this day affect me, keep exercising and such then this little blip won't matter all too much. I'll just let it be my 'cheat day' for the year :p

That's a really unreasonable way of thinking, don't you think? "I can eat these things because I'm thin but because you're bigger than me you have to have a steelish willpower that I could never dream of". Aargh. Rage.

I reckon Amy! It's a completely unfair way to treat me, but I have to put up with it at the end of the day. I can't do anything about what she brings home - I've tried talking to her but again the idea of willpower comes up again and again. She has no willpower, she eats whatever she wants and is still 50kg.

Today is going much better, except my protein intake is nowhere near where I'd like it to be. I had to curb off another binge by eating grapes and a 94 calorie packet of popcorn. Then I had a nap and now I feel much better - not like I want to binge at all :)

Re protein, I've found things that really help me are cottage cheese, lentils, and milk. The 0.1% fat milk I get here (can't remember whether that's readily available in Australia, I just drank what my mum bought, heh) is 35 calories per 100ml and 300ml contains 10g of protein- sometimes if I have the calories to spare at the end of the day I'll just drink a glass of milk. (Meat is still a good source but I don't want to have it more than once a day)

I don't mind eating more than 1 serve of meat a day, but today I've been a bit slack. Haven't had much milk and had too much carbs which brings my percentage of protein down. I don't know how many grams of protein I'm getting, I just know it in percentages coz that's what my calorie counter does for me. I should probably eat more cottage cheese too...

This is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: 45grams of oats, 130ml of skim milk, 42g blueberries, 27g raspberries - 257cals

Lunch: 2 fillets of lightly seasoned fish, 2 tablespoons of ketchup - 361 cals

Dinner: Beef stew - 348 cals

Snacks: 250g grapes, packet of popcorn, banana with yoghurt, milo oats with 150ml of skim milk - 653 cals

Total: 1619/2000

19% fat, 26% protein, 56% carbs

Going out today to buy some cottage cheese and stuff to up my protein intake.

It's against nutritional recommendations that I've read and it's expensive. The more that seems to come out in health news, the more it seems to be "reduce the amount of meat you eat". I know that means I struggle to get the protein I want, but I need to find another way.

I thought those recommendations were just for red meat. Oh well... I like my meat lol!

Today I ate:

Breakfast: Fruit and Seed oats with 175ml skim milk - 279 Cals

Lunch: 100g ham, 200g low fat cottage cheese, 2 tomatoes - 309 Cals

Dinner: Lasagne - 836 Cals

Snacks: Milo oats with 125ml skim milk, light yoghurt, ice cream, popcorn - 511 Cals

Total: 1935/2000

Breakdown: 29% fat (too much!), 29% protein, 42% carbs

I'm pretty sure the cheeses in the lasagne and the icecream put me over the edge with the fats today. The lasagne wasn't what I had planned for dinner, but I ate it because it was convenient (hubby cooked it, I planned on having rissoles to up my protein). Oh well... live and learn!

Hiya AussieGirl! :) I'm an Aussie Girl too. Just thought I'd say that straight out :)
I've read the last few pages here, and firstly, congrats on the loss! That's awesome!

Nice work on incorporating the cottage cheese! One of my staples at the moment, usually for breakfast, actually (though not the past few days.. hmm) is some wholewheat crackers (I miss the vitaweat 9 grain - they are awesome and I don't get anything like them here in Switzerland) with cottage cheese and some fresh sliced tomato, with lots of cracked pepper. It's totally nomnomnom. But I like mushy things, and cottage cheese and I have always been friends. :)

I'm curious about your packet of popcorn - is it microwave popcorn? Cos I always thought that they had masses of butter all in it and everything... And I didn't know you could buy it already done for you, but not microwave stuff... okay, my brain is all fuzzy at the moment, so sorry if I'm rambling!

Hey Decisionmaker! Another Aussie expat! :) Woo! I don't know if you remember the brand "Cool Pak" popcorn, but they come in little bags of 20g, prepopped with a bit of salt (and I think a little bit of oil or butter flavouring or something, they taste buttery/oily), and they're only 94 calories for a bag! They're the perfect snack when you feel like junk food which at the moment when I'm studying for exams is perrrfect!

Ugh I stayed up until 2am this morning, and just woke up. Feeling really shithouse right now, and need to study a lot more. I ended up also having some bananas/blueberries/yoghurt on top of what I already put down which put my calories somewhere around 2200/2000 which I actually consider justifiable because I was 400 calories under the day before. Its these damn late nights that are screwing up my eating habits...
