100lbs lost or more, how has your life changed?

Hi,

So, I've lived my entire life without knowing what it is like to be thin and or a normal weight. I have lost 30lbs pounds and need to lose another 180lbs to get to the edge of "healthy weight" for my gender and height.

For those of you who have gone through a similar journey, having lost 100lbs or more, how has your life changed? How did you change psychologically? What expectations of weight lose did you have, and did losing the weight give you what you wanted? How has your health changed?

Any insights into the process and after effects of a very large weight loss would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I lost nearly 100 lbs and it changed my life in ways that I would never have thought about. Seriously, it's not nearly as much the big things, but the little things that have shocked me and made a huge difference.

Yes, the health benefits are there. Yes, being able to wear regular sized clothes is amazing. Yes, being able to climb stairs or walk distances or whatever ... all good.

But what's really changed my life?

Being able to tie my shoes w/out contorting my body or getting out of breath.
Being able to wrap a bath towel around myself and have it overlap.
Being able to wear my mother's rings.
Being able to sit in an airplane seat and have the belt fasten and have a tail left over.
Being able to sit in a chair and not wonder if it was going to hold me.
My guy being able to pick me up (that still blows my mind).
Being able to walk down the aisle in the movie theater and actually fit between the rows.
Being able to eat something (like a burger at Five Guys) and not imagine that everyone is thinking "Look at the fat chick eating a burger."

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Really there are a dozen things a day that are so different from my old life.

So yes, my blood pressure is down and my cholesterol is normal and my blood sugar is w/in healthy ranges and I can now run 2 miles (working on 3) and I can lift weights and ... all kinds of other BIG things.

But the little things that I discover every day are so much more life changing for me.

My favorite small thing sounds a little strange. Basically, its that I used to sweat when I went out to places that aren't fully air conditioned, and were full of people. That was super embarrasing.

Its easier to go to the gym after you feel more confident about yourself. (talk about a catch22)

Oh yea, and buying clothes IN THE MALL/Retail store. Thats new and exciting! Suddenly shirts don't cost 45 dollars, and theyre on sale 2 for 20.

Also, you get excited to have your picture taken again.

Its absolutely worth it.
