100 Pounds and Counting....

Hi Everyone!

I have just started on my weight loss journey today. Like many, I have tried and tried, or thought I tried... but no success, just weight gain. I am new to the whole forum thing too so I am feeling sort of out of my element today.

I am 23 years old, 5'4 and weigh 230 lbs. My goal is to be 130 lbs by Christmas of this year, so I think that is doable. I keep hearing people say- that is too large of a goal! But, that's my goal, and I am willing to take baby steps to get there. I am lacking the support at home that many have- I am married, and my husband says that he supports me, but his support is the kind that works the opposite way... it makes me depressed. I hear from him "You are too fat to love" "I want you to lose weight so I am not embarassed to be seen with you in public" "You are as big as a house" "I want you to lose the weight for US, not just ME".... those kind of comments get to your self esteem really quick.

I am ready to shed the pounds for ME! So far today, after deciding to start on my journey, I have drank 13 glasses of water, (I don't eat breakfast anyway) and for lunch had a small salad and a veggie burger. I have found that I need to take not just one day at a time, but one meal at a time, this is a lot of dicipline that I am not even close to used to.

But, I am excited to join such a great forum, hopefully I get more support here than I do at home!!

Ashley

Welcome.

Our stories are similar, and I look forward to hearing how you progress and such with your goals. Maybe we can help each other along the way. :D I was thinking it would be great to take some pictures of myself, and maybe scare people to NOT look like me. Lols <3

And forums are awesome. Great places to share and talk and get to know other people. Don't feel too worried about it. ;3

----EDIT----

Grats on your water intake! I didn't have any today. I'm just.. not thirsty? I had a can of diet cola today... which isn't too great for me.. and that was it to drink.. I really need to get it together. >.<

Hey Girls..!
We have sucha a smiliar story.
I'm 23 as well, I'm weighing 240 now... Not married, but have a baby boy of 1 year old.

This forum is great. There are many success stories which are very inspiring for all of us. We can share a lot about tips and knowledges about exercise, diet, and everything that concerns to a healthier life style.

What I usually do is:
Breakfast
Small Snack (Fruits or Nuts)
Lunch
Snack
Light Dinner

and I move, move, move.
I'm walking to the store, dancing while cleaning the room :D
PLus I go to the gym 5 days a week.

I know you can Do it.. KEep on!

You can do it Ashley...your story caught my eye and then when I cont. to read, I became very sad for you. I'm sorry you have to hear those comments that you posted...it's unfortunate that someone you love would say that. Men don't always think of the best ways to encourage us. My hubby is quite the opposite, we got together 10 yrs ago when i was 21 and at a very healthy wt. of 160, but then gained some of his eating habits and had a child, which led me to pack on enough to reach 280...and all along he's never said one single comment about me being overweight. On the other hand, it's almost like i'm frustrated with his leniency....like he doesn't care how much I weigh so much that it has let me get to this point. But then I realize that is just an excuse and I need to do this for myself. Well I started my journey mid oct. and i'm down 20lbs now..set backs from work and holidays...but back on track now and ready to fight. I really hope you find the encouragement and support that you are seeking on here, because we all are worth it and have the fight in us....so keep up the good work you've already started and you'll get there. I also have 100lbs to go as of last monday....we can do this!!!

Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right.

Nicky

Good luck girl!!!! you can do it!!!

(i noticed that you eat no breakfast and very light lunch.
i found that it helped me losing wieght to have beakfast, a healthy balanced lunch and a light dinner (like your lunch). Eating less at dinner really helped me to start losing weight.
& its hard - but i also dont eat after 7pm. it worked for me.)
