Alligatorob's Diary

I've always wondered how that worked, could the ancestors of the many and widespread people today really have spoken on language? Seems hard to believe. Maybe its more the pattern of word and phrase exchange or something.
I think it's probably more like mitochondrial dna. Just because it shows all modern humans share a single female ancestor at some point doesn't mean she was the only human woman alive at that point. Just that through chance and genetic fitness the others lines ended at some point before now. I think this is the video I once watched that explains the general principle:

Great news gaining some strength in that shoulder!
And loving the idea of the peach leather pants!

Today was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good. And my first batch of peach wine has started to ferment, good news. Ate out at a Cajun restaurant tonight, I had the shrimp and grits and have no idea about calories, so my estimate could be way off. Even it if was I think my calories were ok. Been eating some of the wild plums, they are good, but small.

Peach picking continues, the farmer got 66 half bushel baskets today and will be back tomorrow. We still have one variety that isn't ripe yet.

Thanks Llama, it is a good video. And yeah, at some level we are all cousins. I remembered a documentary I saw recently about the Celts. For many years it was believed that the Celts spread by invasion and migration. However recent DNA studies have show that not to the the case. The various Celtic peoples in the world are not genetically related, any more than other Europeans. It seems their language and culture spread, but not their genes. Maybe the Indo-European story could be similar?

Thanks Liza, I hope it is. And I am liking the peach pants idea more and more, LOL.
Imagine how sticky and gross...
I suspect there could be a niche market for undergarments...
 Happy Birthday,
Rob!
I hope you have a wonderful day,
xoxo Cate

Edit: I should have said it's your birthday in Australia already :)

Thanks Cate!! Still not here though, birthday eve.
Ooooo, Happy Birthday Rob 🎁🎂🥂!!

The peach leather pants sounds like something a kid would make!
Thanks Marsia, and yeah it might be a kid's thing.

Still not your birthday there (at 1.32 pm Sat Aus time) but it is here :D Happy Birthday again, Rob!

Today was a good day, ate well, and feel good tonight. Had some key lime pie for my "birthday cake" and ended the evening with some peach brandy... a good day. My favorite birthday present was a metal bigfoot thing. I know I am hard to buy for, but it was something my wife knew I didn't have.

Sat around the campfire tonight with grandkids, and managed not to eat a single s'more. A good evening.

Spent the day gathering about 75 pounds of peaches and got a second batch of wine started. Still lots more peaches... I may try for one more wine run, should give me about 100 liters... too much. Maybe I'll go to juicing, peach juice is good, but you can only drink so much peach beverage...

It's the morning of the 16th here now as well so I'm risking it: happy birthday, Rob!
Happy Birthday!!!
Oh happy Birthday Rob!:beerchug:
Thanks to all, it was a good birthday.
yum to wild plums!!
They are good, we also have apples and a couple of varieties of pears about to ripen. Not orchards, just single trees but that is enough.

Oh I love that photo of you(?), your dog and the bigfoot and the lovely sunset...so great that your wife found the perfect present for you--i think most of us become difficult to buy for in our older years--that's so great she could find something that brings you joy!

What a great pic, Rob! I love the Bigfoot metal sculpture. I wonder how hard it would be to make peach sorbet? I'm going to buy some low-cal sorbet next time I shop after reading your post in the weigh every day thread. Peach sorbet would be delicious.

That's such a great pic of you and your Bigfoot! That would be such a great present to get!! Peach sorbet does sound wonderful. If you make peach juice, could you freeze some for winter?

Yesterday was a good day, ate a few more calories than most days but didn't binge! It was my birthday party a day late, so I have an excuse.
:rotflmao: On the bigfoot pic: are you sitting by a fire pit there?
Yep, he was sneaking up on us, and didn't arouse me or the dog.

Thanks, it was a good birthday present. And you are right we, or me anyway, are getting pretty hard to buy for. Comes with age I guess.

Hope you can find it. We can't get it in peach that I know of, but it would be good.

That probably is what we'd do with it. The last time I focused on juice I managed to freeze about 30 gallons. Took a couple of years to use it all. Peach juice is good, we added nothing, no sugar, no water, just 100% peach. It was good. I have a juicer, but it is a mess to run.

Yesterday was a good day, but Monday was not. Binged Monday... However I ate pretty well yesterday and got in some good exercise. Today is going pretty well so far too.
Peach juice sounds delicious and would make the best granita!
Never heard of granita, so I looked it up, sounds pretty good. I think one could just use whole peaches to make it, I may try some. https://www.nonnabox.com/how-to-mak... a semi-frozen,substance of the dessert drink.
All of this peach talk has me craving peaches 😋
Nothing much better than a fresh tree ripened peach, but they are hard to find. Not for us, but we have only about a 6 week window. Probably ending in another week or ten days.

I would prefer to eat fresh, tree or vine-ripened fruit ahead of any other sweet so I must make sure I make the most of our season coming up. I will buy in bulk if I can & stew as much as I can fit in our chest freezer. Reading your diary has inspired me to make the most of the season, even if I have to buy it all.

Do you not like Mondays, Rob?
Good for you declaring a binge & moving right along!
