There is no such thing as too late to start training. Just be sensible and don't expect to be improve as fast initially as those a little younger.
Unless you have medical issues that could affect you training, I would say go for it.
You are almost a decade younger than I am but in fairness I have been training in one form or another well over half my life.
Start off steady with some general cardio, and simple resistance movements ideally under guidance. If you have been largely inactive much of your adult life, the cardio will be essential and everything should be low intensity.
Many people start off trying to go all out, ache to the extent they cannot move at all, then quit. The smarter trainers view this as a long term commitment and set long term goals. This means they start steady, ache a bit, but not excessively, then up the intensity over time.
One guy I saw who started training at 34 years old had a spherical physique when he started and I will confess to thinking he would be one of the many to drop out early. A year later he had dropped over half his bodyweight and was starting to work on building some muscle mass, having gained mobility, making it safe to do so. He did continue and got to the point where no-one would believe he'd ever been out of shape. He did need doctor's approval before joining the gym.
When starting out I would always say train everything, not just a few body parts in virtually all cases. And I will repeat, take it steady.

I completely agree with CrazyOldMan... It's never too late to start working out. Don't worry too much about what you read, as there is so much conflicting information that it can make things too complicated and confusing, especially at the beginning. As CrazyOldMan said, starting slow with lower to moderate intensity cardio would probably be a good idea. The gradually add resistance training once you feel that you've established a consistent gym routine and that you're ready to do more. Over time you can change up the exercises that you do, but don't worry about doing anything fancy... just get out there and do something active on a regular basis!

The Boss and the Beast told you everything you need to know Sir ;) I can only agree and Encourage you to get stuck in it! It's so NOT late to begin man ;) Take it easy, see how it goes and best of luck.

I started a program of serious gym workouts when I was 62 and have continued to this day. I have been amazed at the increase in muscle mass. I don't know if you've heard of Ernestine Shepherd, the 75-year-old bodybuilder, who started working out at the age of 56--well beyond your age. Here's a link to show you the results of her efforts: .

Oy Famas.
Old and hairy I maybe, but a beast, I don't know.
Would explain why I got to marry the beauty though. She must have been disappointed when the hairy beast didn't become a handsome prince.
