Over the past few years I have let myself go pretty bad. Once I got a part time job, I stopped playing sports and spent more time playing games and eating junk food - not good. I have gotten to a point where I am pretty ashamed of my body even though I never really was skinny. Throughout primary school I was pretty much always a little chubby, and in high school nothing changed. In years 8 and 9 I was playing 3 sports; soccer, rugby, and tennis. I still wasn't skinny, even after 2 days training / matches for each of them each week after 2 years. I did the same amount of exercise as my neighbour, but his diet was actually worse than mine, eating a crap load of junk food but he still managed to keep slim. Mum has always tried to cook healthy for us, plenty of salads and greens with all meals.
So anyway, i'm starting to make a conscious effort to lose some weight starting off with exercise again. Currently I weigh 120kg and am 6 foot 3 with most of the fat on my chest / belly. I have started doing 3km jogs / walks, but with the holiday season it has been interrupted as i'm busy with family, but I hope to keep this up. I managed a period of 1 and a half weeks doing 3km jogs / walks and I plan to keep up this every day. I also signed up for a gym, so I was wondering whether I would be of more benefit keeping up 3km jogs / walks each day or mixing it up with a bit of gym, or forgetting the jogs and just hitting up the gym most days?
Sorry for the life story haha, but just giving a bit of background. Any help you guys could provide would be amazing.
Also, I was thinking of going on the low carb / atkins diet. Would that be okay while exercising or would I find myself without much energy?
Thanks again for your help.
