Sciatic nerve pain

I have (terrible) sciatic nerve pain in my leg, although my lower back doesn't hurt. Am getting a CT scan today to see whether I have a herniated disc.
So far, I've been taking medicines (cortizon, brufen, pain killers) which don't really improve the situation at all. The combination of pain and medicines result in very little sleep.

I was wondering whether anybody in here has experience with this type of pain: what helps getting rid of the pain, to what extend can you exercise with pain? It is driving me nuts not being able to exercise. Even a 30 minute walk results in pain later on. Suggestions, anybody?

Hi Dutchy

I feel for you on this one a strained my back the went to a osteopath then i had this pain for about 8 months I was in tears with depression of the constant pain.
Like you i tried the drugs got up to diclofenac sodium. Cut along story short, paid a small fortune to chiropractor acupuncture x 2 bowen therapy. Ended up with nhs physio she was not very sympathetic until she did her back (which did make me smile he he he)

I ended up working on my feet which was difficult as I work at a desk.

After seeing the specialist and a ct scan he just said carry on with exercise so i went back to running and kung fu heard a click and then it slowly got better.

As long as you keep mobile it should get better i guess but i am not a doctor as everyone is different

I hope it heals soon
