Grrr...frustrating!!

Sometime i weight myself and i weight like just below 170...and then like 3 days after i weigh 175... what going on...

I know that i need to lose like 40 lbs.. because i am 5.3 so not very tall and weight that much is not good....I don't know if its could be cause by me againg since i am 41 but i seem that i really have a hard time to loose weight ... i really want to be like 130 by the summer is this possible... and really how should i start....

I hate the fact that you know when you sat down or bend down you can feel the rool its gross....

I don't know where to start and yes i do eat junk like pizza and baking that my first step.... but if i don't eat any baking, pizza for a while how long does it take for me to see any change...its actualy depressiong and very uncomfortable!!!!

The worst it that my job is sitting all day long in front of a computor..so that does not help...

Ps... question: what better in your coffee (cream or milk)

Hi there. I would suggest cutting coffee out completely.

The body is designed to run on water intake, this creates the most stable and natural environment for your body to function properly.

People often use coffee to mask the signals of fatigue that their body is giving them (I am presuming that you use sugar in your coffee here), this causes a sugar spike causing the body to react to try and balance this out. Once the balance is correct, your body is slower to react and carries on producing insulin to fight the excess sugar, this then causes a "downer" which you counter by having another coffee.....this is an extremely bad habit but is very common and unbeknown to the person that this biological rollercoaster is ongoing.

If your job does not allow for exercise then I would recommend a quick burst in the morning before breakfast to kick start your metabolism then break down your food intake to 4-6 meals a day well spaced out. Be sure to include a good balance of carbs, protein and fats within your meal.

Hope that helps.

Nothing wrong with coffee imo. Full of antioxidants, can reduce your chance of diabetes, and many studies show that caffeine has benefits.

But yeah, drink it black. Failing that, milk is better than cream to answer your original question.

As to losing weight, just concentrate on eating nutrient-dense foods rather than calorie-dense ones, and exercise daily.

Nutrients-dense food... like what ... you mean food that take longer to digest...(sorry if i ask stupid questions but i am french so sometime i take me a while to understand what i am reading)

What kind of exercices would you suggest.. (weigh training, or more like biking) ?????

You work in an office

Do a Google search for "Office Exercises" you could be exercising in the office and noone would even notice.

Secondly You could eat pizza, but its the cheese that is the problem. I can't seriously see how you could expect to say eat a whole pizza and lose weight. Its not going to happen.

My suggestion is to look at everything you eat, check the fat content, then go to the store and find lower fat items. If you eat yoghurt there is a huge difference in fat between products. You need to study the fat content. Don't eat cheese, its going to ruin your efforts.

If you were to eat sensibly, you could end up eating more, its the high fat foods that keep you from losing weight. I don't think I could find someone out there that kept their diet low in fat and put on weight over a period of time. Spend 20 minutes a day doing some fitness work, if you don't have the time at home, do it on your way to work, or at work, be creative.

If you do this right I would expect you to lose at least 3kg a month, within a year you will be looking pretty good. But don't expect to get amazing results ina month. Its not going to happen.

Keep at it mate. don't give up, but I urge you to start a 12 month plan.

Hey Ric!
Yes i work in an office suck... sat on your butt all day long also i just realise that sitting on your ass all day long make it look flat in some spot...:speechless: grrrrr

Well often the problem with the junk food is the people i live with because my bf often want pizza or if we are watching a movie well he want to get (nibs, chocolat, candy, chips) and i find it so hard to resist when he eat this often hes goes hey if you eat this it will go straingt to your butt... well its hard not too...!!!!

When we order pizza i eat like 2 piece that it.. i can't stomach too much of it at once... but about cheese.... really its that fattening...???? I had no idea it was that bad for your weight! Sometime i will eat a piece or 2 of cheese at breakfast or lunch to get some protein... i guess i should stop that!

So i guess it take a while before you can see result...i think i want it too fast that not good its just that its really uncomfortable in your clothing and if you sat all day long too i hate that...when i was 30 i was able to loose weigh easier...

Ric what kind of exercice you suggest... i have a stationary bike and we are going to get a big weight set for my 17 yrs son....he is into weight lifting... he ask me all the time to do it with him but i try the dum bell my god i lift them like ten time and i am done ... grrrrr

Hey thank for your help!

Fat in Cheese.........6-8grams /28grams = at least 21% probably the same is protein, but probably not a good idea for someone intending on losing weight.

On a heavily topped pizza you could expect to eat between 80 and 160g of fat. (Pizza Hut Nutritional Information pdf) per slice thats 10g - 18g.

Like I mentioned earlier, if you want to lose some weight but keep your home time free, try some of the exercises you can do for free. Is it possible that you could drop your car off Five blocks away and walk into work? walk stairs etc. Starting something is the most important thing. I wouldn't go overboard straight away, how many people do that and fall back within a week. Progression, start easy and increase your effort. But I think you should definitely be patient and have maybe a 12 month plan.

One idea I thought could be, you do some exercises for 30 days, no mirrors, no scales, then you weigh in after 30 days. If you are eating right, and you are doing just 20-30 minutes a day exercise, it is impossible not to lose weight over a month. You know those foods you mention are fatty, if you swap them with other alternatives you will be fine.

You can also google fat content in foods, for information, and jump on Youtube, and search "Office Exercises". people wont' even know what you are doing. Like drop a pen on the ground, and pick it up.....There's a squat, do that 20 times over the course of your 8 hours, and you are making progress. I think if you can incorporate exercises into your daily routine you won't have to bore yourself on a treadmill or fixed bike for 30 minutes.

I can spend hours suggesting what to do, but you have to get motivated.

A good idea is to try and find out your basil matabolic rate. This is the rate at which your body burns energy from a day to day basis just to stay alive. In order to work out your BMR it's easiest to do a google search with the search term being "calorie calculator". Every online calorie calculator has a different method and mathematical formula for working this out so it's best to try a few, 10 is a very good average and will give you a good average of your basil metabolic rate.

After you have done this you it's best to write the amount of calories down somewhere so you don't forget. Now in order to kick start your metabolism you need to eat consistently, every 2 to 3 hours. 6 small meals a day is what you need to get your metabolism going and keep it going at a high rate. Take the amount of calories you need in a day and divide by 6, this is how many calories each meal must be.

There are many sites out there that tell you how many calories are in each kind of food, find one of these sites and then start preparing your diet, stick to fruits and complex carbs like pasta, keep fats very minimal and relitively high protein. In order to start losing weight you have to reduce the amount of calories you have in a day, so stick to your maintenance amount for a week then after that reduce the amount by 100 calories each week after that until you have taken a total of 500 calories off your maintenance amount.

If you want to really see results then you're going to have to cut down on the prosessed foods completely, no fast foods!! Reduce your sugar in take as much as possible, work to completely eliminate sugar from your diet. Getting into this kind of discipline is the hardest, you need to be very strict with yourself but the gains are more than worth it.

Ok I will try very hard to cut the pizza stuff... i did it i know i can but when i did it i was sick and in pain i had gall stone and end up with no gallbladder an other insentif to cut all the fat from my diet... i notice now i guess because i gain weight that often if i had eat like cake or cookies, candy or even bacon i am in pain in the area where i had my gall bladder remouve! This just start a couple of year ago (about 4) and i had my gallbladder remove like 8 years ago.

So this year i complain again to the doctor and he send me for an ultrasound they told me that i had fat deposit on my liver my doctor told me that its not dangerous but its cause from alcohol and diet.. and that if i change this and then take the test 6 month from now it should be fine! That funny i don't drink that much except in the summer since i get the summer off and go to the beach i tend to drink sometime like 3 beer a day....

In the spring i take my bike go come to work it take me 1:30 min one way its a good exercice but last year i barely done it and the year before none...but the year coming up i will do it... maybe its lazyness...

For exercice: if i walk in the living room you know on the same spot would this do the same effect then outside? I will check the office exercice on youtube!

I also have a big ball to do exercice... i guess i can use this too... i know saying and doing it is 2 different thing...

Sometime i see all those women with nice lean body and nice muscle and i would love so much be like that but then i get the excuse that i am 41 year old and getting too old and i had 2 kids so that would be impossible to be like that.... then my bf tell me that its a lam excuse because a lots of those woman had like kids too....

I know that you could talk to me all day and night suggesting me of stuff to do and tips but at the end the motivation has to come from me...!!!:D

Hi Kreesh!

Ok so i could just do a search for basil metabolic rate to find out how much calorie i need in a day? So if i need 1 500 cal in a day i keep this for a week and then reduce it by 100 each week? Did i understand this right...lol

I always taught that process food is like lunch meat and like slice cheese i don't eat that really its very rare when i take cheese i take the brick cheese but sugar and baking are process food too??? Sorry if i ask stupid question!
Yes i can see this will be very hard for me since i got a sweet tooth... i don't know why i crave sugar so much....

One of my friend told me that i should be some kind of detox go get rid of sugar craving... the told me to check this link... I check it out but i don't really like to take like pill and stuff... I have to go buy a multivitamin i should start to take this ... right now i take like probiotic, B12 because i am always low in it and D3 but maybe i would benefit from a good multivitamin!!!!

Yea i think the sugar stuff will be a real chalenge for me..!!!

Go to and check out Lyle's articles on nutrition. This will give you an idea of how nutrients work and how you can make dietary changes other than counting calories specifically.

Also google the Paleo Diet. While I don't advocate the diet in it's entirety, if you pick up some of the outlines of the diet (like cutting out simple carbs, etc) then you start making dietary life style changes that will drastically change your physique.

Next thing, start looking into being more active. Google Crossfit Brand X. This will start you into exercising that doesn't take a lot of time a day and is scaled so that every person regardless of fitness level can do.

Thanks Evolution i will check this out!!!!

The only way that has ever worked for me to cut down sugar is to slowly and gradually ween yourself off it. For example, if your normal cup of coffee has 2 sugars in it then have a normal cup for 3 days, after 3 days decrease the sugar by half a tea-spoon, after another 3 days decrease it again by half a tea-spoon and so on. It's that kind of concept. You have to be patient to do this, I don't really agree with pills trying to stop you craving sugar because I just see them messing with your body, but that's my personal opinion.

In terms of a multivit, you should definitely definitely take one, well I highly recommend it, it will strengthen your immune system as well as detox your system.

In terms of your calories question you did understand it correctly :) weight loss is as simple as getting your maintenance calorie amount for a day, and then decreasing that amount.

I once saw a docco about the Paleolithic diet, and they used tried it on a subject, comparing the diet with other diets. If I can find It I will post it. I reckon it might have been on sbs television Australia. This diet was the most effective if I remember, I went through a health kick at one stage and tried it. But I couldn't do without bread and pasta, so I comprimsed. Now its just hey look, lets keep fat content low, don't eat processed foods. and its going well.

The name of the tv show was "Food Investigators"

Hi! how are you?
I really think that my problem is the baking stuff... i use to put sugar in my coffee but i stop long time ago..but i think its the baking like i made all kind of stuff for Chrismast and people in my family know i love to bake so they always ask me to do it...I bake all kind of stuff... like cream cheese cake and peanut butter balls, ect!!!! I have to try to stop eathing this... one of my friend is almost convince that the sugar cause my eczema... i don't know about that but its only on my hands.. and gone in the summer... hum maybe i eat less sugar during the summer... hum!!!

About the multivitamin.. well i just started this year to take some vitamin i take like 1 vit C (500mg) 2 Vit D3 (1000 each), 2 probiotic (forgot sometime) and well B12 for a while now since i don't have enough in my body but so if i would take a multivitamin and they have the one i take in it already would that be too much!!!! Do you think Centrum are good multivitamin?

About calories.... ok so thank now i kind of understand what you talking about i will check it out and tell you what is my calorie intake for the day... but its is this not going to be hard to cut like 100 a week...all the way to 500 i guess it depend of what you eat right if i eat like a peace of cake well its not very nutritious so i will be pretty hungrey and will take a lots of calories...

I think deep inside i know of know what to do but have a hard time to condition my self to do it.. i think that once i start then it will gave more insentif to continue... grrr.. i love to kick my self in the ass for now keeping with the program when i have the gall bladder problem and lost all the weight i needed not the good way because i could not eat but when did start to eat i eat junk so what what its all back....bad decision!!! now i pay for it...
