How to lose muscle on bulky thighs and calves

Hey everyone,

PLEASE can someone tell me how to lose muscle on bulky thighs and calves.

It's such a huge dilemma for me, because my legs and upper body don't look like they belong to the same person. I've been trying to lose muscle from my thighs (mainly) and calves for 2 years, with no success. I use to love running and going on the elliptical trainer, but both just bulked my legs up so much. I've now given up on them and only go for 30min power walks most days.

BUT still no success!! And yes, I've always stretched for about 5-10mins after exercising. I stretch my calves, hamstrings, and the big muscle on the front on my thigh...These are my main areas of concern.

I'm 20yo, 5"2 and weigh 93 pounds. I have some wobbly bits on my legs (mainly inner thigh), but when I stand up my legs are really solid and my hamstrings stick out a lot (which I really hate!). When I sit down, they're not so solid.

When I pinch the front of my thigh, I get about 1cm of flesh/fat. So is that fat I can lose without bulking my legs up further?

But most importantly...how do I make them not so bulky/chunky?

And bulking up my upper body to even myself out isn't really an option for me )))

Please help!

Any suggestions would be really really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

unfortunately, this is genetic. you have 'sprinters legs' from the sound of it. running for distance, and elliptical didn't make your legs bulky.

you'd have to give up ALL lower body training in order to atrophy the legs. they'll grow right back up if you start training again.

Honestly, bringing the upper body up a bit, and losing some body fat is the only way you'll de-emphasize your legs.

Sorry, but we're not all destined to have good upper to lower body proportions :(

Your BMI is 17.01 meaning you are underweight. BMI is less than 18.5 (Underweight). You actually need to gain weight healthily and seek counselling because you potentially may have an eating disorder/image problem. There are movies I've watched of girls who died because they thought they were "fat" when in reality they were anorexic.
