Hello everyone,

I'm still a newbie, but I'm having fun exploring this site so far. Anyway, it seems that everyone is posting pics of their progress here, so I might as well too.

I recently lost around 30 lbs over the past 3 months by doing a lot of kickboxing and weight training. I was always athletic, but around a year ago I started putting on weight when I found myself with less time to work out. Chalk it up to bad time management. Anyway, I just wanted to get opinions as to how I'm looking so far. Most of my weight gain usually occurs in my abdominal and hip regions. I foolishly didn't take any 'before' pictures, as I was truly embarrassed by the way I looked and didn't think I'd be telling my story to a bunch of strangers, but finding this forum has made me even more motivated to succeed and to sustain my weight loss.
These pics were taken a couple of weeks ago (one of my daughters is in one of the pics too).

Now that it's summertime, I want to take advantage of the hot weather and wear my new bikini!

Geeezzz!! Stop right now get the bikini and show your hot self off to the world. Ya look great. Nice work tell everyone your workout and diet program.

i think you look great! awesome job! what does your routine look like, like how many times a week do you do kickboxing/weight training and for how long?

OK, so I'm gonna be a very bad man and ask the question. Are those real?

If so then you've got some damn good genetics on your side

Thanks

As far as my routine goes, I'll go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I'll either do kickboxing or some other type of cardio for 45-60 minutes, and combine that with another hour or so of weights.

bicepts and tricepts.... your arms look good, but better with a lil muscle.

That's actually what I'm focusing on now. I'm trying to get more definition. I'm pretty happy with my legs and abs (I don't want my abs to get TOO cut...I've never liked the way extremely-cut abs look with midriff shirts or belly piercings), so my arms are my next target.

Congratulations on your weight loss, young lady. :)

What are you doing with your calories and macros?

Again, nice job. You have earned it.

Best wishes,

I eat around 1,200 quality calories per day, and I watch my sugar and carb intake. I keep my sugar intake to 10-15 grams per day at most (except for fruit), and my carb intake stays under 40 grams per day.

How old are you? I mean what is your age? or how young are you? whatever- LOL

anyhow, it may be a bit hard to build any muscle when starvin

oh wait-- unless the other 3-500 cals are non-quality ;)

heheehe

OK-- I will be quiet now

I'm 37. I don't feel like I"m starving, but I"ve been trying to add more protein. I guess I forgot to mention that. I try to take in at least 50 grams of protein a day.

Thanks

you're welcome :)

i was just curious about what a typical day of eating is like for you? like what foods and how often during the day do you eat, etc.

i wish my abs would look like yours! LOL! i've tried to cut down on carbs myself. i am currently light in weight but i really need to tone up more. i have to step up my weight training a bit. but if i could get abs like yours i'd be a happy friggin camper...hehe!

oh one more question, how long did it take you to lose the weight and tone up like that? i'm curious to see what you looked like before.

You look awesome and should be very proud of it! You clearly worked very hard to achieve results like that! Well done!

You didn't specify your current weight, at the risk of getting web-based beat-up, can I ask you what this is? :violent: :)

I ask this to get a general idea of your calorie allotment (BMR, and Calories with activities included).

Not to go into specifics, but carbohydrates are converted to forms of sugar, and it was interesting that you separated the 10-15 grams of sugar (which are forms of carbohydrates) with your 40 grams of carbohydrates. Is this 10 to 15 grams of sugar, excluded or included in the 40 carbohydrate grams?

Curious: As you lost your weight, did you find you had to lower your carbohydrate consumption (or you learned this with trial an error) adjoined with a calorie deficit, and this has lead to the current carbohydrate gram consumption, or is it something you just began doing?

40 grams of carbohydrates is a extremely trivial amount (its virtually....close-like getting none), even with a female when normal processes get done with them, and I haven't included resistance training yet.

There is a lot I do not know about you, so I am spinning on an axis, until this improves.

How have you been "feeling" with this carbohydrate gram amount? How long have you been doing this? Bodily response in this amount of time? (not counting water loss, as soon as you increase your carbohydrates--from the amount you specified, your hydration will go up, and thus weight will increase--most likely).

You said in another post, that you were getting something like 50 grams of protein. With this in mind, it is nominally known you are consuming about 40 grams of carbohydrates, 50 grams of protein, and the assumption the rest in fats (?), within your stated 1,200 calorie allotment.

4g (approximately) X 50 = 200 calorie approximation

4g (some cases can be 6g, as it can vary contrary to some opinion, dependent on carbohydrate) X 40 grams = 160 calories

Total without including fats: 360 calories. 1, 200 calories - 440 = 840 calories left.

Is there an error in your macro nutrient allotment? If you continue in your "extremely low-carb/no-carb" diet, it is imperative you keep your protein and fats up to snuff.

I would assume that since you are taking in about.....40 grams of carbohydrates within 1,200 calories, that your protein and fats would be higher. More specifically your protein intake more than 50 grams.

Just wanting to discuss some nutrition with you. :)

Best wishes
