Barbell squat question

Hi Im just wondering if somebody who really knows their squatting can help me with this one.
I've been squating for a while now and my form is ok but over the last few months my calve muscles have been tightening up the day after I've squated. I do a fair amount of running aswell so the tight calves are making life difficult at the moment.
Any ideas? Any form pointers that may resolve this issue?

Note: I already do squats flat footed(stocking feet) so thats not the problem.

Any help is very appreciated
Thanks

maybe the stiff quads are from running? sometimes DOMS doesn't fully set in until 2 days after the exercise so if you get it the day after squatting and you ran the day before that, the running could be it.

Other than that, are you staying on your heels? If you go forward on your toes your calfs would have to work more.

Some people squat "flat footed" and others squat to the point when their heels lift. You are the type the squats heels lifted. You can place a 5 or 10 pound plate underneath your heals to help maintain balance and prevent your heels from lifting off the ground.

if someone squats with heels raised, he/she should consider some ankle flexibility exercises or find a weight suitable to keep the heels on the ground. Shear and compression forces about the knee decrease when the foot is in solid contact with the ground during a full squat.
