Just need som info on ab work outs

Hey all, just in need of a little information.

I've only just started working out, im 18 and weigh 92kg(sry, dunno conversion).
But I've got a belly that I'm trying to get rid of and am a bit confused about a few things.

To get rid of it, is there any point of doing crunches and sit-ups now? I'm a bit confused weather I should be trying mainly to work it off with cardio workouts or if doing sit ups and crunches would help loose the belly fat.

Information about this would be highly appreciated.
Cheers

When you do ab or core exercises you are strengthening your abdominal muscles but if there is a layer off fat over top you'll never see those muscles. Focus on your diet and working off the calories.

wow quick reply, thanks alot for this, I had a feeling this was the case. Better focus on my diet alot more.
Thanks again.

PS. If anyone has any different views, feel free to post

If you want to do ab work, you can. Just as long as you know it won't make visible changes until you lose the fat that's covering them up.

Go on calorie deficiet diet and cardio excercise first to trim down. If you really want to push it, try cardio for 20 minutes; run right over and do some abs / crunches while you are sweating like a monsoon; once you feel even slightly not as heated, go back to cardio for another 20-30 minutes. If you can afford the time and energy try to keep this up for as long as you can and fit in some HIITs to kick butt.
