i do have a question l have back issues due to a lot of road running - to the extent i cant run anymore due to the pain. i have been going to a chiro for 10 years - this is not fixing the problem - just stopping the pain. anyone have anythoughts on acupunture or other alternative medicine methods

Just a thought, but I know that I would have some back pain when I was starting out. I was kind of overweight, so that might have had something to do with it at first. As I dropped weight I still had some lower back pain. Someone suggested that I work on core exercises. I started doing more planks, and other twists to focus more on those muscles. It helped to strengthen them and that helped a lot. When those muscles are stronger you don't have to work as hard to support your torso when you are running.

Just my thoughts.

Welcome. Agree with SpotMe, that back pain from running is sometimes due to a weak core. I am seeing some of that now as I crank up my mileage and am dropping weight a little too fast. Gotta pay attention to that core!

I have a friend at work who had debilitating back pain and swears that acupuncture gave her her life back. Many insurances (in the US at least) now cover it.
