What strength resistance bands to get?

I'm going to buy resistance bands, probably JC Sports Band from ihpfit.com, but I don't know what strength to get. How do I know which ones to get?
 
The thicker the more resistance. the thinner, the less.

They all basically do the same thing unless your going to get those ankle ones which are only around 2 ft in length
 
i just bought the gold gym set and use the bands in combination as i need them. i guess it depends on how strong u r. i also HIGHLY recommend getting the door jam loop, it increases the amount of exercises u can do exponentially
 
In using resistance bands IN COMBINATION WITH exercises - such as dumbbells or barbells, or weight stack machines --and trying to decide which strength bands... a basic guide to use is if you can't bench press over 300lbs, then you don't need anything over 50lbs per band per side - to mean on each side of barbell; .... working backwards from that... if you bench is around 220 or so, then I'd suggest about 20lbs per side...again only a suggestion - if the bench is less than 200 - I'd suggest using 10 - 15 per band per side/hand... I use bands IN COMBINATION with my workouts... I attach my own band, my product, to all exercises...barbells, dumbbells, and all weight stacks.

If you are going to use bands alone, without attaching them to equipment... you are going to have to do trial and error... buy a resistance - say 20lbs, and go from there.
 
Hey guys, great information. First time poster here.

Anyway, I'm planning on getting some exercise bands for myself since the exercises don't bother my shoulder (tendonitis) but now I'm wondering what's better: Bodylastics or the Gold's Gym bands? I don't see how much the weight each band for the Gold's system is worth whereas the Bodylastics has a different weight equivalent for each color. Bodylastics has the 3 different systems though so I'm torn one which to get, if any. So, can anyone give me the pros and cons of each? Which one is better for the money, etc? I'd really appreciate it.

My general workout consists of a lot of different push-ups and there's no room in my place for weights so I have no idea what I can bench these days. I weigh 185lbs if that helps.

Also, Tcajim, the system you said you've come up with sounds great. Is it still coming out? Any idea when?
