Split or FBW

Hmmmm i jsut noticed, Karky and Chillen have the same number of posts :D

I ate Chillen for Sunday lunch with some mint sauce and a side of potatos so I doubt he'll be adding to that number :D

Presently, I do (and have most of the time) performed a upper/lower split with "two different workouts" for the upper and lower during the week.

Meaning the exercise and intensity levels are different between the two workouts, while keeping track of the progression of each. I have had good results with a upper/lower split twice per week, and training the core directly on average 3 times per week.

For example, the lower portion of the split (workout 1) (Workout 2, lower, is different)

1. Good mornings

2. Dead Lift

3. Front Squats

4. Lunges

5. Standing Calf Raises

6. Plate weight cardio in-between rest periods, functional in the first minute of each rest period, and resting the remaining two minutes of a 3 minute total rest for each exercise. Short "1-minute" strong cardio bursts.

The plate weight cardio has been modified as compared to previous versions, I have posted. Currently I place two jack stands near my upright bike. Before getting on the bike I strap two (one for each leg) plate weights around my thighs (with a modified leather belt underneath velcro to prevent slippage and to allow some wiggle room). I then get on the bike (after adjusting the tension/resistance to max), and grab the two stands, and go all out for one minute, and then rest the two minutes, and then move on to the exercise I am doing. An absolute killer.......:) And, the plate weight gets increased in progression just as the other parts of the workout would.

I expend alot of energy during this workout and eat accordingly; my MT Line is near 3,000 (when considering work activities, etc), and I can eat upward to 2700 calories (my base is 1600 approx), and therefore, leaving a higher end deficit. I like the do more, eat more perspective. Its sort of like using the G-Flux approach.

Additionally, I just made a contraption in my gym. I have always wanted to do the Tri press down (with a rope), but I didnt have the equipment at home. So I got to looking and thinking (man this is friggen dangerous, he, he, lol), and thought to myself, well if I got a strong rope, and looped it through the rack holes (you know the brackets that hold the BB on the bench), and tied a small 2 1/2 weight on the end (as a base plate to hold the other weight), I could do a tri press down, one arm at a time (and when I get a bar two at a time). I made a wooden and slotted plank, that fit in the holes, and as I pressed the weight down, it slids up the plank and back down, etc. Works great. Gots to be inventive, ya know! This ROCKS!..........Weird shiiiiiiiiat works.....he, he. :) Plus, will provide a different angle of stimulation (for a time) that I am looking for.

A FBW or a upper/lower split can work. And, there is nothing wrong with switching it between the two after give one or the other some time to function. And, by the way, it took me a year and a half (approximately) to get the overall body I wanted. Give it some time, young man. The love handles are the last to leave for most men.

Best wishes,

Chillen

I wanna do a split so bad. When football ends thats what I'm gonna do ;)

Heck yeah. I was over at training camp on Monday. I'm a little nervous since none of the three quarterbacks were throwing accurately.

Anyway, I'm really liking that rep variation from the other page. I think I'm going to try that.
