New, looking for other people in their 40's

Hello,
My name is Janet and I started seriuosly working out 5 weeks ago as far as having an actual routine. I have been going to the Y faithfully but there are no women my age. I feel like a lone wolf out there among all the young'uns.
I do weights Sunday, Tuesday, & Wednesday. Cardio on Monday's and Thursday's. Rest on Friday and Saturday if that is what you call housework and catching up on everything else. I met a friend through work on line who is into bodybuilding and he has helped set up a routine and diet for me.

I am 45 years old
136 lbs
5'4"
I would like to lose 10 lbs but my biggest problem is I am just soft. I sit at a desk 10 hours a day if not more.
I am a single mother of 5, two of which are my own. I presently have 3 grandchildren and another one due in November.

Looking to make friends who are interested in working out and getting fit!

Welcome to the forum, all I gotta say is you came to the right place.

We got tons of old geezers around here

We got people here in their 30's, 40's, 50's.

P.S Watch out for the 40 year old wannabee Iron Man
P.S.S Watch out for the 47 year old dude with rock hard abs. He's hyper, positive, and starts writing poetry out of nowhere. Some of us think he's on crack.

You'll know em when you see em

welcome !

Hi Janet,

I'm 49. I work out 10 - 15 hours / week and am currently training for my second triathlon, an Olympic length, in October. I'll talk fitness with you anytime I want.

BTW, I train with the 40 year old dude, Flyinfree. He's cool! He and I rode 100 miles a week ago Saturday.

I'm impressed!

I look forward to talking with you!! I am not up to full workouts yet but I am loving it. I feel so much better than I did just a couple of months ago.
Cutting out all the junkfood and soda has helped tremendously.

Hi Janet!

Nice to see another gal join in here! :)

I'm a mom of 2 (twins) and workout at home (small gym). The fact that you started and are working towards a goal is a big step! I know how hard it can be to get the workout in when you got kids. (I hear ya on the housework!...lol)

There are a great bunch of folks here who are always good about answering questions and offering support to help you get thru the rough days :) Glad you have come aboard and joined the gang!

Look forward to seeing more posts from you!

Cheers!
Diane

btw, I'm 42 yrs old, 5'7", 125lbs

Thanks Diane,
I think I am going to like it here. Twins - O' My !

At my age I am struggling with everything wanting to go south...
My ex and I bought a home gym but never really used it. I joined the Y in June and I have been going faithfully. The hardest part was just getting started but I am on a roll now.

Hello.

My name is Janet.

My body is made of Granite.

And, I am from another Planet.

You see, I dont allow AGE to put me in a mental CAGE, and I reopen another life's PAGE, to ENGAGE my goal is such an intensive RAGE, I set my self on the most beautiful golden STAGE.

At any age, there is beauty within your own skin

And, you can ROCK adversity on the chin

Age is just a number, and when you realize this you will win and become thin and will experience a grin and your former self is just a has-been.

Now, get started.

It begins......within.

=========================================================

People with their hearts in the right place will attempt to give you good advice and various opinions.

Decipher them, but NEVER let them influence what YOU uniquely want within your own heart.

If you do, you will walk around dizzy as if being on a merry-go-round not knowing what to do for your own well-being and self nourishment.

Take opinions and advice and apply a "self-standard" test within your heart, and this will direct your personal path.

NEVER "abandon yourself"......for the sake of another persons advice or opinion.
=========================================================

Janet is the Cookie-Cutter.

Janet is the Bread and Butter in her personal Flutter.

I Mutter without a Stutter; she is the goal cookie Cutter.

As her friend, it is my duty to make her realize she is the cookie Cutter to be Unfluttered and will have no mental Clutter.

Therefore, Janet is the bread and Butter with Flutter and the goal Cutter.

I Utter and do not Stutter

Janet is officially Unfluttered.

:)

ROCK ON.............

Remember if you have a rocket in your pocket, all you have to do is pull it out on demand.......to Rock it!

He, he.

Welcome to the forum, and wish you all the best.

Im not in my 40's for a few years yet. Just saying welcome to the forum. Dont worry about being the older person in the weight room either. Coming from a young person I respect the older people at my gym. Keep up the good work.

By few years you mean almost 2 decades right?

Thanks Chillin, I may just print this out for motivation for whenever I'm feeling down!

I am 47 (or will be next month). Diet and fitness has changed my life. It turned it upside down and put a smack on me being on crack......and I Liiiiiiiike it that way, baby.

Diet and fitness can turn the back the clock.

It can fill you with a spice for life and mentally prepare you to handle any strife in this life.

Knock knock

Who is there?

"ROCK"

"Who in the heck is ROCK"?

Rock around the clock because feeling old is a "Buncha-crock"

You can turn back the clock and rock.

And, dont forget it.

Best wishes

Chillen

Just FYI, I don't mind chatting with the young'uns. I just said 40's because my body is going through changes that only people my age can relate to.
*hot flashes & night sweats* etc etc

I think we can all learn from each other.
My biggest supporters are my step-son whom is 18 and my mom who is 70.

I am new also. I am 5'4 and I weigh 129. I want to lose 10 pounds. I just turned 41 on the 6th (that hurt), but I sure dont feel my age at all. I have alot of living to do. I am glad you found someone who will help you. It seems that around here where I live people just dont want to help unless you pay that mighty dollar. I have done some research and lots of reading, but I havent gotten it yet, but I havent given up either. Good luck to you...

O to be 41 again, lol. As of last night my trainer quit on me. We clashed on our personal beliefs. I'm not giving up though. He was an inspiration that got me started but I wasn't doing this for him. This is all for me. I just have to read more. Good luck to you also and I hope to be hearing more from you.

Mind I ask what the clash was about. Was it fitness related? Difference of opinions?

I hear ya. I never realized how much information there was on line. I spend all day at a computer and I never used to even turn mine on at home until recently. Now I am reading and watching the videos. Trying to absorb all I can.
