Pelvic pain after cardio

Hey guys, don't know if anyone has an insight, but I'm stumped. I'll do my usual cardio on the elliptical (maybe 20 minutes on a high resistance), sweat like a pig and then get off. About a minute later I get this insane pain right next to my left hip bone in my pelvic area that has me curled up on the floor for about 10 minutes. It's happened a few times, but not EVERY time. It's really annoying because then I feel like I have to take it easy for the rest of my workout. Is this some sort of odd muscle strain or something? After about 10 minutes of weird throbbing, it just 100% goes away.

It sounds like it could be a strained oblique muscle, but the safe answer is to say, "Run this by your doctor".

i'm with gator80 on this , check it with your doc.
you don't say if you hop straight off the eliptical after going full on, or if you give yourself a couple of mins on it after to cool down a bit. could it be any relation to the 'sea legs' you get fom a treadmill? just a thought.

I don't 'cool down' on it all that much. I usually go full out, slow down, hop off and then pace around a bit to get my heart rate down. Once I start breathing normally again is when the pain just slowly comes on and stays for a bit. It's not quite a "clench" (like a charley horse, which I get all the time in my feet) but it's a strong constant pain.

And ehhh I don't exactly go to the doctor. Ever. lol

I worked out after I made that post, but only did half the cardio that I usually do, and the pain was only half as bad. It's just strange.

Da mn FF, that was my 1st thought when I saw the title of this thread. You da man for posting.

Gotta go, off to work my "kahunas" so I can post stuff like FF.

P.S. - what's up with the job situation, PM me

This is my primary cardio source, so yes. I pretty much stick to my bedroom, which sucks, but that's the way it is. I'm not sure if I'd get the same thing with running.

Lol what does your bedroom have to do with this? Your eliptical is in your bedroom?

Anyways if the pain is that severe, I would stop the activity first and immediately. Especially since it is a recurring scenario.

You do alot of kickboxing right? Any pain when kicking or kneeing?

I said my bedroom because that's where I 100% work out. Yes the elliptical is in there. Meaning I don't go out running, or to a gym or any of that. So it's 100% from the elliptical. My job makes me speedwalk around for 8 hours a day, and I don't get it from that, so it's something to either do with the movement of the elliptical, or my heart rate being up.. ?

While I'm doing the actual movement, there is no pain. It's just after I finish and walk around for a bit that it flares up, and of course I don't do anything until it goes away.

No pain with kicking or kneeing so far.. Because I'm already on the floor in pain after the elliptical before I even get into that lol

So far possible reasons I have gotten:

Strained muscle
Depleted oxygen (like a cramp)
Not enough water

sorry, I was just havin fun.

rearely will I have anything of value to offer... so when I do- I hope you will be impressed.

I sweat alot and enjoy peeps.

A little update here.. Worked out this morning and did 25 mins on the elliptical. No pain! I tried something different today. I admit, I take stimulants to pump up my workouts. So shoot me! Anyway, I'm thinking it's those 5-hour energy shots that could be somehow giving me the pain? Trying to think of a common denominator here since everything else seems to be the same. That, or the fact that I had yogurt before my cardio yesterday and today I had a banana. But today I skipped the "shot" and was totally fine. Maybe it will remain a mystery.

Well, my first thought was it is the machine. I am bowlegged, and I can't use the elliptical because it makes your legs move in a motion that is not normal for me.

The next thing I thought of is your age. When you start getting towards your 30's (late 20's) your body will start preparing for the "child bearing years" weather you are going to have a kid or not...:) and one of the things is that your hips may widen if you are thin there.

I had that happen to me right before I had my kids( I was 30), and because I had kids. I my hip bones were tender to the touch for a YEAR. Yes, a YEAR. because I had a c-section, my hips spread but nothing came out....that way.....ok, didn't need to say it that way.....sorry.....:D
