My family asking me to stop losing weight!!!

Don't worry about them, man. Make sure you are losing weight in a healthy way. Looks like you are so no big deal. My definition of healthy weight loss is no more than a 500 calorie defecit but that's just me. I've gained over 40lbs of mostly lean mass and my grandmother still think's I'm thin and don't eat enough.

She eats complete crap all the time and is around 200lbs. She tells me ",you need to loosen up a bit. Stop being so healthy. A little "normal" food won't kill you. You don't need to measure that food/workout" I thrive on this because I know that people in that mindset are jealous of your will power and determination. They just want to drag you down to where they are. Ignore them and do what GOOCH did. Let them see the fruits of you're efforts when you are done.

Good Luck :)

Its really sad that my wife wants to lose weight and is resorting to barely eating. She eats cereal or oatmeal at 12pm for breakfast/lunch, then comes home and eats two small meals of basically carbs. When she loses 10 lbs she will start to exercise...

I hope I am not overstepping my bounds, but I have been thinking about what you said regarding your wife because it has always bothered me when I hear of women starving themselves.

anyway, I wanted to offer a suggestion. *Maybe* you could convince her to add some of those "negative calorie foods" ( i.e. some vegs):

asparagus
beet
broccoli
cabbage (green)
carrot
cauliflower
celery
Chile peppers (hot)
cucumber
dandelion
endive
garden cress
garlic
green beans
lettuce
onion
papaya
radishes
spinach
turnip

or fruit:

apple
cranberries
grapefruit
lemon
mango
orange
pineapple
raspberries
strawberries
tangerine

with some steamed chicken breast or turkey or something equivalent to balance it.

or things like Orville's smartpop 94% fat free popcorn, fruit bars, or even Odwalla smartfood fruit drink. let her look them up and see for herself they are low calorie but it could help bring her something more than what she is having now.

Anyway, thought it might help......

Negative calories are a myth. Some of those foods are very low in calories, but none of them are negative or 0 calories.
Though they can be quite filling and assist in weight loss.

there is nothing that is "negative" calories, BUT these foods take more energy to digest then they have calories, hence the whole "negative" calories concept.

BUT (again :) ) I was merely suggesting that is how he "peddle" the suggestion on to his wife who he said wasn't eating enough. For someone who is willing to "starve" to loose weight, this "concept" is appealing, and the foods are at least healthy.

Most people dont think they are starving themselves. I told her to stop eating the cereal in favor of more natural foods to get vitamins and minerals. She told me that the cereal has that.

Sorry she is giving you such a hard time. :(

My friend called and told me she is doing one of those $*&%^$ liquid fast crap things, and nothing would convince her not too. so stupid...:argue:

Maybe if you tell her in passing how the vegs and chicken will not make her gain weight, but that carbs will, she will switch....:)

Sometimes it's how a person is conveyed the info.....

Hope she starts listening to you soon....

I dont push the issue anymore. She is also a vegetarian. Though she has started getting dizzy spells, today I said its probably cuz you're not eating enough. She said maybe.

If my hubby thought I wasn't eating enough, he would go and buy something I really liked (that was fattening like chocolate cake) say it was for him and taunt me with it. LOL! I'd crack....sometimes;)

If you are seriously doing it the right way then dismiss what they say.

I've got an aunt that probably used to weigh 250 pounds. She lost damn close to 100 pounds and a lot of family members said that she was way too skinny. So, I told some of them, "if you saw ***** and didn't know her, would you think she was too thin?". They all said NO. So, I think a lot of times, family is so used to seeing you at a certain weight that when they see you at a "normal" or "healthy" weight that they overreact. Just my thoughts!

I was about 190ish when I started to get involved with fitness. I knew absolutely "nothing" about it, I was an "old" 44 year old at the time. Before I did anything in the outward physical sense, I embarked on an intense personal mission to educate myself. I learned the basic and fundelmentals of diet and fitness at first, and as I progressed this foundation allowed the more advanced methods to work their magic and was the catalyst to great personal feats.

Though, now I am some 30+ pounds lighter, I am ten times (or more) stronger than I was before at 190ish. For example: I could barely bench press 90ish pounds when I started (at 190ish lbs). I can now bench OVER 300 lbs (at 161lbs). My body woke up and responded beyond my wildest dreams with hard and consistent work. Its the constant personal battle that wins the game, baby! There is "always" overtime for yourself in the fitness game!

I am the lightest I have ever been, and in the best shape of my life and even when I was in my prime. I know I lost a step because I am past my prime, but I dont think I have. Not allowed in my mental composite.

Over time, I had to educate my family on the "circumference" of what I was doing so they would understand (to make this short). Educating them along my goal path, tended to give them the same type of vision circumference I possessed. And, though my wife (to this very day) doesnt like my defined ab core, she understands why I am doing it and understands its improving my health at the same time.

I have encountered some persons at work and in the general public who "think" I am thin and I was challeged a couple of times to take my shirt off to prove it. I am not a vain person, and have refused (several times) because I have nothing to prove to them, but I have a couple of times, and the look on there faces said it all. One person even said, "man, you have no friggen fat, your goanna die!" I just smiled and said, "what ever" lol.

Educating and giving your family knowledge (if the are willing to listen to it) will assist in your problem.

Best regards,

Chillen
