new member goals - are they realistic

I'm 48 year old woman, 5'6" 140 lbs. I'd like to loss 15 punds net of fat loss and muscle gain. I'm in okay shape and have started weight traing 3x weekly, dance 2x weekly and walk for one hour on the treadmill 4x weekly. I really want to tone up and loss fat. My measurements are 37-31-39. I can live with all of them except the waist measurement. My goal is to go from a 31'' waist to a 27" waist. Do you have any suggestions for my workout routine that we've had success with?

That sounds like a reasonable workout regime. You may want to bump it up as you get more fit.

As for your dimensions, you will probably lose some inches all over, especially in your hips and thighs, as that is where, as you know, fat tends to accumulate on a woman.

I'm 48 also.

Okay, I'll post any changes. I expect you are right about my hips but imo my legs are great they are 21 1/4" at their largest and are substantially smaller at the mid-thigh point.

hahahahaha

g8r80 is not the smoothest, but he has the biggest heart. Its so big that they have to keep adding parts. LOL!

check out NROL for your weight routine. New Rules On Lifting- its a book, and it has been very good for many here.

second- if you are walking on the treadmill because you enjoy it cool. But, you are not 55 yet. pick it up some- said with love :hug2:

you can walk until your hair turns blue, hehhe, and it aint gunna get you anything. Sweat, and sweat hard! It feels good, and it looks good.

Ha Ha yes I admit I walk so I can read at the same time. I did run 2 miles out in the neighborhood the other day and was really surprised at how much harder I had to work compared to the treadmill. What's .02 mean? I'll check out the NROL book. Thanks for the input.

oh yeah- and drink a gallon of water a day and chew your food real good young lady!

yes I do need to drink more h2o. I never drink cola, eat desserts, fried food or in general over-eat. I plan to cut out alcoholic beverages and add exercise so I hope 15 pounds is attainable.

Now you're busted! When I work out, I can't read, talk, or focus. I can barely grunt out a few syllables I'm goin' so hard, unless I'm riding a century with Flyinfree and I slow down deliberately to let a hot blonde ride with us....
