Sparrows Experiment

and

;)

gotcha!

GIVE ME SUGAR NOW!

oh, and for you GT- stay on her about her diet! For the scratches you will need poroxide, and bandaides; i have lots left over that you can have. If she breaks one of your bones see a doctor.

I will vouch for her healthy physique though; starving for protein is not a concern.

I don't know how far Humboldt is from you, but this looks like a cool century ride for you. I would do it if I happened to be in NoCal that weekend.

NO KIDDING tough. Humboldt is full of hills. I think I'll pass on that one, although if I were in good biking shape (like on my OWN bike) I'd consider it for sure. My bike is just too big to attempt another century in comfort. That'll be fixed soon (*cough* FF?). I'm also a whimp when it comes to wind on my bike. Its my number one weakness. Thanks for thinkin of me though :)

FF I hope that was a compliment :) I do love my protien and miss it so :luxlove:

I didn't get to go to the pool :( I was really looking forward to it too. Yesterday I was busting out 2:30's and leaving on 3:15 for my 8x200's and I wanted to repeat that. Thats a good set for anyone who is trying to get in more swimming...8x200 threshold pace. That feeling of being just on the edge of going anaerobic. I love that edge. My husband is pretty sick and I wasn't feeling 100% earlier either so I called in sick. I hate leaving people to fend for themselves. I have no replacement at the moment so if I can't be there, they're sunk (so to speak!). I didn't think I"d be looking forward to the warm weather so soon, but I am. When its warm everything seems normal.

 I'd like to get to the point where 10 min miles were "painfully slow"!:D

and g8r, we've all been there at one time or another! When I started running at the very beginning I couldn't run a half mile without stopping with a maximum heart rate. When I finally ran a mile non stop it was 12 minutes! Stick with it and you'll see great progress! Running is something to be patient with. For most people its 2 steps forward, 1 step back (as in some sort of injury to hault progress!) Kinda like swimming :)

my very first marathon took me nearly 7 hours. LOL.

the first time I headed to the end of the driveway in 89 or so, I almost got sick. and I was pumped up for my new life.

a compliment- you don;t need any from the likes of me sweetheart. Throb throb throb! hehehe

the bike- yes the bike. PM coming.

Spin class today. Sweated buckets again. I swear I'm the only one. I need one of those 80's sweat bands or something. Its so irritating.

Thought about cutting spin a bit to run....thought fled and I finished the spinning for the hour....

Tonight I got on the tread....thought about running again...ran about 2 minutes...got off. hahaha. It was like a sauna in that gym today and running next to a million sweaty bodies really turned me off.

SO

I went on the stairs and did a pretty intense 30 minute workout there. Sweated more buckets and was disappointed I didn't have more time. Burned 400 cals in 30 min? So my heartrate monitor said. It sure felt that way.

My legs are sore from yesterday's lifting. I missed a lift day last week so I'm sure thats why. I wanted this week to be pretty intense and heavy in exercise due to the fact I'm going to have to miss like 5 days this next week due to being in Georgia with my very UNathletic sister. Its not turning out that way. I still haven't really run in 2 weeks :( The weather is just sopping. Maybe I can find a good route there somewhere.

Something I read recently that I thought worth the repeat....

"We magnify the capabilities of our friends and strangers, positive and negative, then feel ineffectual and wanting in their midst. Thus we escape the consequences of our potential and miss the mark of responsible, truthful engagement with our own experience."

'Seeing What is Sacred-Ken Gire"

Wow.

WE have got to get over these shins sugar... or WE will just continue to 'deal' no problem.

I sweat buckets at spin too.

what a fantastic quote! gee,, maybe I should read it again... yes I should. After this race I will work on the stair thing some. you do it alot, yet it seems so boring to me. huh! contempt prior to investigation...not cool.

The stair thing looks harmless enough but most people find it so horrible they don't return. lol. Then there are the women I see get on and go this super slow climb pace while they chit chat, that anyone could hold for 30 min. I do some serious intervals on that thing and most of the time I'm running for half of it and sweating all over the place. You gotta make everything count!

Today was great. My daughter stayed home with my hubby (still sick) so I had some freedom. I went and ran 5 miles, 3 of them were tempo at 7:45 pace and then I went to spin with the hardest instructor we have at the gym. It was wicked. VERY heavy and she had us on a sort of circuit that we had to keep coming back to the same hellish hill over and over. I hardly ever look at the clock and think "when is this over" in spin, but I sure did today. Course it could have been partly due to that run beforehand too. At the beginning of the class on that first hill as we were already breathless she yelled out "WHAT ARE YOU HERE FOR TODAY What goal will you achieve TODAY" I thought that was an excellent reminder that our days are made up of mini goals. Each one is a stepping stone to something greater. Each hard workout is that 1% closer to our 100% ultimate goal. We are not simply marking time. We have opportunities everyday to make significant changes.

After that I did 2K in the pool and felt like I'd been at the gym way too long. I may try and do a bit more swimming tonight if few people show for my class. They like it when I get in with them, but I just can't see their technique as well so I normally don't. we'll see. I came home and craved STEAK. I'd made it last night for the fam. SO I had some and guess what-I feel okay!

wow! I guess I will just comment in your journal every day. Let's get over it!

you ARE INCREDIBLE. you are WESOME. you are STRONG, BEAUTIFUL, FAST, kinda smart, INSPIRATIONAL, and a FAVORITE PERSON of mine- TOTALLY WORTHY OF MY ADMIRATION!

sheeeeesh
;)

I use one of these...when I run in my basement on the treadmill. It helps a LOT. If I am not wearing it I am wiping the sweat off my face every 30 seconds.

No one will ever accuse you of not working lady!!!! I wear a t-shirt when I ride the bike. When I'm done, the thing is soaking wet. Guess I need to invest in some other materials. I could always wear my loose fit cycling jersey, huh. Keep up the hard work. You da bomb!

awesomel! Well, if I weren't SO cool I'd wear one at the gym  haha just kiddin :p I'm sure that would save me a lot of grief and OTHER people would be appreciatiave too!
I'm like you Drex and GT...I have a puddle under my bike, my TOWEL is soaking and my shirt is a different color due to all the water its holding. So gross. One one hand I'm totally repulsed by the fact I'm a super soaker. On the other...there's a little pride after such a deluge :D The bigger the puddle, the harder I'm workin! Maybe I should change my dainty user name from "sparrow" to SUPER SOAKER. hehe

ps. I did go back and do 2K with masters swimmers. I felt super strong like I hadn't done anything this morning!

Recovery day

30 minutes on the eliptical, level 14
10 min jog on the tread
core exercises with the ball

later-NROL Fat Loss 3 workout B
maybe swim...but its very windy and rainy I bet they close the pool.

To workout, or not to workout, that is the question. OKay for all of those who read my diary...come out of the woodwork and tell me what I should do. Its not often I'm on the fence about a workout!

Here's what i've done this week
Monday-spin class (intervals)
Tuesday-4 mile tempo run, NROL weights
Wednesday-spin class (intervals), 2k swim
Thursday-Spin class (hills), 5 mile run, 2,000 yd swim
Friday-30 min eliptical, 1 mile jog, NROL Fat Loss 3 weights

wow, it actually looks like a light week compared to most of them..but I am sore today and I'm retaining fluid which makes me think I'm slightly overtrained.

I planned on going to the pool today to do a longer workout. Just about a 4K or so. Who thinks I should? lol. Keep in mind, for the next 5 days I'm going to be in Georgia doing just about nothing.

K. I'll go today...and blob the next 4. haha. I kind of agree on the digestive issues and rest. I find that my body really loves the rest after some really hard beating on it! It tends to reward me in some weight loss as well no matter what I eat
